So did we take two steps backwards or are we where we should be given the injuries (lost our starting qb, OL, Ronnie, etc)

It's hard to say. Even with all the injuries it seems like we had been competing at a very high level before these last 2 games. Now, it just feels like we're not waking up until we've already dug ourselves a hole too deep to climb out of.
I'm having a little trouble taking solace in this myself, but considering we're supposed to be in the second year of a 3-year rebuilding project, we're not in such a horrible place for the time being.

Not just the last 2 weeks really. We were in a hole vs the Jags and Pats. We havent came out strong since the bills game. TS needs to get these guys ready to play. I think this team is coming along nicely though. Compared to last year we've only regressed at 2 positions; cb and fs and the regression is only temporary until they get experience. If we had Hill and Goodman we'd probably have more wins this year, but we have more talent at the positions now. They just need to get more experience.

This is probably true. The silver lining to that (if I'm not mistaken on the way it works with UFA's lost and the playing time they receive) is that we should be in line for a couple of compensatory draft picks in this next draft from the league due to their playing time in Denver this season.

Good point, I forgot about that. An extra 4th or 5th could be huge in this years draft.

Injuries played a part in our down the stretch demise, but the big picture shows just a complete inadequacy of talent. An inadequacy that was there last year too, but not as easily exploited by teams who weren't as good as the ones we faced this year. The injuries on defense hurt us no doubt, the injury to Ronnie Brown hurt because we had to rework our entire offense. But when it comes down to it we lost games because of poor execution - missed tackles, poor play calling, poor decision making - things that you don't see out of a legitimate contender. This team has a lot of work ahead of it. Hopefully this off-season we actually properly address these issues, getting some of that work done.

It's a complete surprise we can still be 8-8 after everything that happen. I thought we would be 8-8 without all the injuries.

The team IMO regressed from last year but it isn't so far fetched considering the FO still has work to do with the roster. The team being in the playoff chase all the way to Week 15 is a good sign though. Build on that for next year.

It seems to me the last couple of weeks our boys weren't mentally ready to go. I mean it takes the other team to get a nice lead then they want to wake up and play football. The only people I know to blame for that is the coaching staff, I'm not a big tony sparano hater actually I love him even if his game management sucks I think that can be fixed.
But as far as I can tell they haven't been fired up and raring to go and as far as mentality goes that falls on the shoulders of the coaching staff.

Our record was soft last year because of our schedule. I think we took a step forward, but there's still a lot of work to do.
