I love the idea of the young Travis Daniels coming into our system last year straight out of the womb of Nick Saban in college. This will be a better year for him and I love his potential, but who will be our other starting CB. Do you guys think we will end up with some free agent or will we draft someone?? Or will Will Poole look great coming off an injury. What's the deal with Poole? Has he been working out? There is so much talk about who our QB will be I'd like to think about corners. Since the prime of Sam and Patrick are gone we need to focus on that a little!

You've got Will Poole and I've heard good things about Shirdonya Mitchell (not sure of the spelling).

You spelled his name right. I've seen Mitchell play a few times, and he is a very good cover corner with blazing speed. It will be interesting to see what kind of player he is after his rehab is done. If he's anything close to what he use to be, than we will be set for years with our three young CBs.

I love Will Poole.....if you ever watched Antoine Winnifield play, its gonna be like watching the same player!! The man can cover like a monster and tackle like a LB!! I cant wait for the Poole and Daniels show!:dolphins:

Good to hear that from someone that actually saw him play some. When we picked him up, I did the usual research and found a lot of positive comments about his play. I've never seen any video on him though. Actually, is there anyone here with video on him?

Excellent...

I'm all about the young CB's playing together. Speed Speed speed! I gotta lay off the stuff

will poole will be the real deal. it seems like he has this uncanny ability to cause fumbles.

Poole, last I heard (January) was doing very well and pretty much back to full strength. In fact, I could be wrong, but there was some consideration to bring him back mid-season (he was on the PUP, I think), thinking that he could play his way into shape. He'll be fine physically, but still has to prove he can be the CB we need him to be. The only weaknesses that Daniels and Poole will have is inexperience and less than ideal speed. Both have the same weaknesses... The question is are they enough ?? Both, while showing signs of being a very good are relatively untested...Saban's system does a good job of hiding the lack of ideal speed, but you can't hide inexperience. Daniels will have the obvious advantage of playing all last year, but showed some of his inexperience last year as well...the question, to me, is whether Mitchell can be our 3rd CB...He is even more inexperienced than Poole and Daniels but has a little more speed and was supposed to be better than his undrafted status because of injury in college....??? Is Saban comfortable with Poole, Mitchell and Daniels ??? Don't know...would I feel better with a Ty Law or Madison back...yes...but the CBA and the cap will really determine that...

WIll POOLE.

Poole is coming back but I can see us drafting a corner on day one...a guy I like in the 2nd round if he's there is Richard Marshall of Fresno ST.We could also get another guy in free agency but I'd rather get a SS and then a corner on day one of the draft.

Ozzy rules!!

Do we really think that MADISON would have been cut if SABAN wasn't reasonably sure that POOLE was going to be ready ...

He had to be ... otherwise .. that 2 MIL wasn't worth it ... even though MADISON was not a SABAN style CB ...

Excellent point, if we clearly had no one to step in i think madison would have been kept on and cut later or restuctured, Madison being cut is a positive sign regaring the development of poole and mitchell as well as a very deep draft for db's

i dont think daniels has the speed to become/remain a #1 or #2 in the nfl. this is the same concern i have about poole. this is typical of CBs taken on day 2 of the draft. with great speed, you can recover when you're beaten and either make a play on the ball or make the tackle. all CBs get beat but the one's with speed don't often get beat for big play TDs. guys like poole and daniels when beat will get beat bad because of their lack of recovery speed. don't get me wrong, i love them both, but they will present matchup problems against swift WRs like evans, coles and branch.
