We are two weeks away from March 9th, and free agency open! I don't really get in to other sports, so March 9th and the draft are my favorite days of the offseason. It's great that the combine leads right up to the day it starts this year. What are everyone's expectations? This is what I'm hoping for:

1. Still get resigned before the 9th.
2. First round tender on on Kiko.
3. On the 9th go hard on Guard. Zeiter and Leary are my favorites. LB and DE are deep in the draft, so I think G needs the most attention in FA.
4. 1 move on D. Probably not taking the most expensive guy at any position, but we need to make some waves with a LB or DE.
5. Depth! Mid level guys/guys rebounding from off years or injuries make the Patriots one of the best teams at FA every year. We need to focus on getting better at this.

I can't wait!

Solid run down. All of that is likely to happen with possibly the exception of Stills re-signing.

Not expecting an expensive guard signing, they basically have already made intentions known if you think the Armando article is accurate.

I don't know if I do agree with that article, but I also think we can sign a big name guard and draft one and save money from what bushrod and Albert cost last year. A top guard will fetch 6-8 million, and that is far less than Albert's 10 million cap hit. I just don't see Gase underestimating the importance of of filling these two holes. He is an offensive coach who knows where success starts on offensive, and he saw last year in Cincy and Tenn how inaffective his offense is with lessor talent on the line.

Tannebaum went on record to say defense is the priority this draft, and I don't see them backing off this stance. I think we already got a preview of this when we traded for Thomas. Filll the need on offense, so we can draft defense.

Why would we do that? You'd basically be paying him an extra $2M for no reason. Regardless of which tender we give him nobody is signing him to an offer sheet, he'll be a Dolphin in 2017 so it might as well be with the low tender to save us some money.

You fill NEEDS in free agency and in the draft you go BPA.

I hate BPA. It's not a realaity for us, or most teams. Would any Dolphin fan be happy with the best player available on the first round if that player was a QB, T, WR, TE, S, or RB? I would imagine no. We have definite needs, and we have neglected to get talent, and younger at LB and DE for too long.

I'm not against grabbing a guard early, but we have a very poor track record and have wasted so many draft picks in the past 5 years on guards I think it's time to just chalk it up and bring in proven talent. I also think we can't gamble at the two starting guards, as Ryan can't afford to take a step back this season, and will be in a kneee brace. The other problem is you don't find pass rushing DEs later in the draft. They are right under QB as the most sought after players.

BPA is how you get a player like Aaron Rodgers.

Just to be clear I do not necessarily agree with the article and also would like to at least solidify one Guard spot even if we have to pay up a little but if the article is accurate which was my point -doesn't seem to be heading in that direction.

Sorry I've been around since day one with this team and reaching for players or trading down has been a disaster. Taking the BPA has always been the best strategy for this franchise. One injury can decimate a team so it can never hurt to have a quality player for depth or as a trade chip.
