These are the players that were drafted by the Miami Dolphins in the 4th and 5th rounds from 2000-06.

2000:
4th Deon Dyer
5th Arturo Freeman

2001:
4th No pick
5th Shawn Draper

2002:
4th Randy McMichael
5th Omare Lowe and Sam Simmons

2003:
4th No pick
5th Donald Lee and J.R. Tolver

2004:
4th Will Poole
5th Tony Bua

2005:
4th Travis Daniels
5th Anthony Alabi

2006:
4th Joe Toledo
5th No pick

Did we give up too much for Trent Green? None of Dave Wannstedts, (NFL coach of the year in 1993) picks are still on this team. Only one of Nick Sabans picks has been a solid starter, (Travis Daniels). Yes, I know it's a different staff now, but it's too early to tell on Cam's and Randy's picks.

4th rounders are supposed to be solid contributers, cant help we have been incompetent with the picks. Danials and Mc Michael were starters. Trent Green is a one year option at best why waste the pick.

We havent wasted a 4th IMO.

For that pick we have our STARTING QB, who has alot of experience and can still play to a high standard! That is a steal.

Ok, so he is a little old. Ok, very old in NFL terms, but we drafted John Beck to be the "future" so it wouldnt matter who we have, Beck is going to be the man in 2008, or perhaps, halfway through 2009.

So, its a draft pick very well spent. And, at the end of the day, as long as you win, thats all that matters. :-)

I mean its like this:

A 4th rounder is usually a player that will have an impact on the team . . . not many 4th rounders are cut I don't think, but that is besides the point.

If Trent Green can come here and lead this team to the playoffs . . . it would have been worth the pick . . . anything else and its like a bust. I'm sorry, thats how I feel, its only justifiable . . . because to go 8-8 just isn't good enough to lose a 4th rounder. We could have waited for Green, Peterson wasn't keeping Green, c'mon . . . not with their 2 biggest playmakers wanting paydays' forget about it.

I like the acquisition . . . but I think the 4th is too much, but hey . . . if it leads us to the playoffs and beyond . . . I'm all for it. It's a wait and see, but definitely the team's past w/ losing picks for vet QB's . . . has a direct effect on why many people hated giving up the pick . . . but if this is Cam's guy to lead and mentor . . . he is a first year coach . . . and we have to respect that and criticize/praise after.

Terrible, u have been drinking too much Peterson juice. No matter what, we lost a player who could have been a solid contributer to this team for 10+ years . . . for a guy who at most has 3 years left in the tank . . . and we don't know if he really is on the decline after his shaky performance last year.

It's only acceptable if he is still a good QB and can lead this offense to the promise land . . . but that doesn't change the fact that we lost a player that could be a key to this team for years for a guy who is at most a 3 year rental . . .if that. Combine that w/ our wasted picks in the past and I think fans have EVERY right to be upset with this trade.

Just look at it as simple would you trade Paul Solai for Trent Green right now.

Exactly . . . Solai is supposed to be our NT of the future . . . future meaning 10 to 15 years. Is it worth losing that type of player for a guy who is 37 and is at most a 2 year player for us. Only if he leads us to a championship is the only way it is acceptable . . . yes those are tuff expectations but its the truth.

Right now it's only a 5th that we owe Kansas City. No one knows if Trent will even play the 70% it takes to make the pick go up to a 4th. If John Beck can learn the NFL game from Trent, then I think it's a good move. If we happen to make the playoffs, then thats just a bonus. If I remember correctly, we haven't been in a playoff game since 2001.

Do you think we signed Green for a 3 year 15 million dollar contract to play a partial year.

Its a no win situation. If Green doesn't play 70% of the snaps . . . than either he absolutely sucked and was pulled or he got hurt. In both of those situations, than we would have just wasted a 5th rounder. By playing 70% of the snaps, at least we had a guy who was the best option on the team and stayed healthy . . . tho we had given up a fourth. Its sad to say but as a Fin fan, u actually hope we lose the fourth . . . because it most likely would have meant Trent Green had a solid season for Miami.

I hope we play him between 0 and 69 percent of the snaps. I know he is not the answer so I just want to make the best of this bad situation we can.

I hope he plays lights out, 100% of the snaps and leads the team to the Super Bowl . . . since we are hoping lol.

Statistically they are not, though. The success rate of 4th round picks in the league is lower than you must believe.
