wow, that was certainly bittersweet. how was it possible that a team which had:

- a 1372 yd rusher
- leagues leader in TD receptions
- league's #1 and #2 sack leaders
- possibly the best CB tandem in recent NFL history
- 2nd best defense in dolphin history
- 1/3rd of defense make prowbowl
- 10 wins

not make the playoffs?

i guess thats a rhetorical question, the answer to which is brian greise, and to a lesser extent, jay fiedler.

You had to bring this up, lol. I did not want to have to think about that season ever again. Also, I believe that was the first time in 16 years that a team went 10-6 and did not make the playoffs (something along those lines). I pretty sure Zach led the league in tackles that year as well.

By losing at home to the worthless Texans to start the season. That was also the year, if I'm not mistaken, that Mare missed 2 kicks at home against the Patriots. They lost in OT. That team was good enough to make a run in the playoffs.

And the following season Ricky retires and we go 4-12, boy that DW....pure genius!!

then the cheapskape patriots obviously had the refs working with them remember the only reason they beat us was becasue brady threw a prayer down the sideline and they called a horrible call on madison for pass int and they gave the ball to the pats on the 1 yard line resulting in out demise.

Well, there was Mare missing two game winning kicks against the Patriots at home, and the defense giving up a TD bomb in overtime.

There was Jay Fiedler throwing a trademark pick 6 against the Patriots when we played them in NE later in the season.

There was the defense getting their ***** handed to them against the Eagles at home on Monday night-- in a game in which the offense actually showed up for a change.

If I remember correctly, our OL was pretty bad. Poor Ricky had to fight tooth and nail for every inch he gained.

Sad thing is the year before we were a WAY better team. Ricky had of 1800 yards. We would of won the superbowl if Jay Fieldler wouldn't of got hurt.
We went 2-4 with his backup Ray Lucas as QB.
The 2003 team was just a shadow of the 2002 team.

It wasnt the OL. It was the fact the opposing defense felt no threat AT ALL from our QB and passing game in general.

I think it was a combination of both OL and our passing game WVdolphan.

We lost our 2 best run blockers from the year before in Mark Dixon and Jamie Nails who played side by side. That and our center Tim Ruddy was aged constantly got beat. Dave Wannstedt tried desperately to sign C Olin Kreutz from Chicago in the off season to replace Ruddy but wasn't able to pull him from Chicago.

The 2003 was an out right disgrace, 10-6 or not, a Dolphins team that loses the season opening home game to a LARGELY inferior Houston Texan team never deserved a playoff spot to begin with.
