During tonights game, Manning showed his usual prowess and led his team down to a touchdown. But the running backs competing for starter combined for, according to nfl.com, 13 yards.

Sound familiar? Great quarterback, can thread the ball and lead his team downfield, but lacking that great franchise running back and defense?

Dont expect the colts to ride Manning's back to the superbowl. It takes a team to get there, as we discovered back when Danny was our QB, and what we're starting to see out there now every practice in south florida. A team:-)

It's only the preseason. That said, the only people who think Indianapolis has a shot at a championship work at ESPN.

They have alot of banged up guys on the D that didnt play tonight. That being said, didnt say much for the depth of the D either. Looked like the Rams ran all over them.
As for the running game, Addai might be a good back, but its got to hurt them not having James. 1500 yard rushers dont come along everyday.

I love Manning, but you're right, we had Marino & where did it get us without a running game? Indy exits playoffs in round 1 every year IMHO.

I thought they were the 90's Dolphins even before James left.

Why? They're soft. And even though their defense statistically improved a great deal last year, I'm not sold on them in big games.

The Colts have very good team with or without Edge. I'd say they have as good chance as anybody. I'm not even close to ready to say we're better than they are. As long as they have Payton they have a chance. I know he hasn't won big games, but the same can said about one of our most beloved.

The difference is the Colts did have a running game to complement Peyton, but they let the running game trot off to Arizona this off season. Imagine if Dan would have had a 1500 yard rusher to compliment him anytime from 1984 to late in the '90s. I have no doubt there would have been some Super Bowl rings if we had a runner who put up 1500 yards year after year the way Edge did for Indy.
