Head coach Marvin Lewis indicated to Bengals.com in April that Nelson was expected to start opposite of Chris Crocker, and Coyle said that a starting role was there for the taking for Nelson. Nelson could benefit from more experience in the defense, Coyle said, noting that Nelson "didn't have a lot of time to get familiar with the system" in 2010.
"He can make plays at a really high level," Coyle added.

Would love Reggie Nelson on this team.At Fl. he was a heck of a play maker, although I haven't paid much attention since he went to Cinci.

Looks like he had his best year turnover and tackle wise last season
85 tackles
2 sacks
4 interceptions
2 forced fumbles
12 passes defended
115 yards on interceptions with 1 td

I would definitely take him over Clemmons!!! We need a playmaker back there and Reggie seems to be that type of player.

I would like to see us get him, and then move Jones to SS to take over for Bell.

Now I've been Bell's biggest naysayer over the past couple of months, but his presence in the run game is so undervalued.

Yeah, Bell may be a liability in coverage sometimes, but with another pass-rusher on the opposite side of Wake, Bell still has a role. Why you ask? Our coverage will be good if we can get to and disrupt the quarterback.

Yea...It's a tough call for me too. I love Bell, but he kills us in coverage. I know a consistent pass rush would help that, but I think his best days are behind him. Jones is a hard hitter also, who I think would be better in coverage. Really, the clincher for me is Bell's salary...He's carrys a pretty good cap hit next season. If he agrees to restructure or take a pay cut, I say keep him and let him battle it out with Jones for the sopt.
