With the addition of the Ocho, what will most likely be WR depth chart this year?

1) Bess
2) Ocho
3) Hartline
4) Nannee
5) Gates
6) Fuller/Moore/Wallace?

I would rather see Bess in the slot, Ocho as a #2... And I guess start with Hartline as #1 then rotate til we find the least disappointing result...

The end result will most likely be no clear cut #1 this year, but what combination gives us the best chance to have a good season?

Who do we keep, who gets cut, and how do they all fit best on our depth chart?

Your thoughts....

I think the guy that's open on any given play is the '#1' for that play. I do think that's gonna be the approach. Our ability to run the ball will have to be our '#1 WR'. We're not gonna be too great in 3rd and long situations, I'll put it that way. It will be interesting just to see what % of his best year's ability Ochocinco will be. If it's 90% or more he's instantly our closest thing to a #1, as he's been there going against the best DBs and knows the tricks, maybe he can mentor some younger guys on how to beat a jam or whatnot.
I think you base it on who's gonna be covered by the likes of Revis or Champ Bailey, and who can still make a play in that situation.
Or our '#1' WR will be having a route tree that our guys understand and the other team's D doesn't.

Rishard Matthews the 7th round pick has apparently looked good. He might beat out Gates, Moore, Wallace, Pruitt, Cunningham, Fuller, et al.

Our running game should be the strength of our offense. I just hope we aren't so lethargic at WR that they have to change play calling to accomodate runs. Regardless of what anyone says, we are still rebuilding until Philbin can get his guys on offense (WR position primarily) that allow him to successfully execute HIS offense... Not a modified version of his offense that caters more to the running game due to lack of WR talent. (and possibly lack of QB experience, too)

Where are you getting this info from? The Finheaven threads about the OTAs? I haven't read too much about him, I must have missed that part. Thanks!

Why is Ocho our 2nd wr on your depth chart??

I know how amazing he looked last year with his 15 receptions and 1 td, but 2nd

It's early. But right now, I'd guess..

1) Brian Hartline
2) Chad Ochocinco
3) Davone Bess (slot; also plays special teams)
4) Legedu Nannee (also plays special teams)
5) Roberto Wallace (also plays special teams)
6) Rishard Matthews (also plays special teams)

I think Fasano/Gates/Egnew will play a big part in the offense. Not to mention Bush and Miller. I think we’re ok with Ocho/Hartline/Bess/Nannee but I worry about depth and injuries. Right now, I’m not sure I’d put Gates above everyone else. He seems to be struggling.

Brady had far better weapons in Welker, Gronk & Hernandez... We have Bess and Hartline... basically... I see Ocho as a better receiver than Nannee and Gates. Hopefully one of our undrafted rookies steps up, or our 7th round pick... But look for him to have more than 15 receptions with Miami...

And I said #2, because I believe I read thats where he will most likely fit. Either on PFT, or roto. Ill look it up

EDIT: Here roto and PFT say it

Dolphins signed WR Chad Ochocinco to a one-year contract.

Ocho is 34 now, and you don't need us to tell you he hasn't been productive lately. Perhaps he'll concern himself with football in Miami. Assuming he does, we like Ochocinco's chances of beating out the likes of Legedu Naanee and rookie B.J. Cunningham for the starting spot opposite Brian Hartline. The new coaching staff doesn't seem at all taken with second-year wideout Clyde Gates, and Davone Bess is entrenched in the slot. With diminishing ability and a quarterback position destined for in-season musical chairs, it would be an upset if Ochocinco made any noise in 2012 fantasy football.

If you want to look at past production, Hartline / Ocho / Bess (slot) are probably the starting 3. You can put those names in any order, but Bess is best in the slot.

Based on past production, the only other player who could take Ocho's spot is Legedu Naanee.

At this point in the year (OTAs), we're all making wild guesses. And it's certainly possible that Ocho's low production last year was an anomaly.

Keep in mind that last year was a shortened preseason, and New England has one the most complicated offenses. Ocho had to play catchup.

Meanwhile, Wes Welker, Deion Branch, Rob Gronkowski, Aaron Hernandez, were all returning veterans who had experience with Tom Brady and the New England offense. And last year, that group was a well-oiled unstoppable offensive machine, so it made sense for New England to just go with what was working, and it brought them all the way to the Super Bowl.

I'm not a big Ocho fan. But our WR group is so weak that Ocho has a legit chance of being one of our starting WRs.

What about Charles Clay. He made some good plays last year in the passing game. Don't overlook him.

Great post. Thats what I figured, Hartline/Ocho/Bess... And hopefully #85 will produce more with us than he would surrounded by Welker Branch Gronk and Hernandez, its a pretty reasonable assumption.

Legedu, I am not too familiar with.

What about Charles Clay. He made some good plays last year in the passing game. Don't overlook him.

Fasano/Clay/Egnew would probably be the more appropriate guess at playing a bigger part of the offense. Not in that order, though. Fasano isn't the pass catching threat that either Clay or Egnew are. Clay proved that last year with several very impressive plays (in a poor offensive scheme).

Gates has yet to impress and from what we read is struggling more so than any of our other receivers. He'll end up getting cut (if not now, eventually) if he doesn't turn it around

I think we signed him because Brian Hartline is not only hurt, but could be hurt for a while. I think Chad Ochocinco is partly here to take Hartline's place until he returns.

If CO can play and Hartline is back healed, I'd run CO and Hartline and have Bess work the slot. That would put the two bigger and faster WRs on the outside. And IMO, Bess has proved so far that he is better in the slot.

But the season could start with CO at #1 and Bess at #2 etc.

I still have faith in Gates and when he comes in, he teans to play. on the outside. When I see that the corner is winded I'd send Gates it for a couple of downs and on at least one of them, I'd send him long. I'd also line him up in the slot to try to get deep.
