I vote YES!

Why? Because on two separate occasions during the season they gave us tangible hope that things were different, that these weren't the same old Dolphins, and both times proceeded to kick us in the junk to remind us that these were indeed the same old Dolphins.

What Weeks 3 and 15 felt like: We were in the verge of a climax during a romp with a supermodel, when suddenly she rips off her mask to reveal.... Your wrinkly grandmother!!!!

The other contenders for most disappointing include the run ricky run, Ray Lucas, lobster trap fail season and Nick Satan Culpepper knee failure season.

This one takes the cake though!

One game short of the playoffs doesn't hold the trophy during a decade of being one of the biggest laughing stocks in the league. Sorry but I'll take this team as it is 100 times before I take a team that goes 1-15

The keyword here is "disappointing"

1-15 wasn't disappointing because we didn't expect playoffs from that team. In fact, I much preferred that season ultimately to this ****tease because I wasn't putting severe stress on my heart during EVERY game! It was a much more relaxing viewing experience expecting them to lose and being pleasantly surprised when they won. And ultimately, it led to real changes. 8-8 is worse than 1-15 on so many levels.

My vote is for that 2002 season when Ricky had 1800 yards and we still missed the playoffs that one still hurts. F U JAMAR FLETCHER!

I say yes. This was a disaster. To feel like we did for so many weeks, to have the fate in your own hands and to let it slip away like that. ... tgis was bad.

2011: ****ing up a great 0-7 start to get Luck then retaining Ireland was pretty ****ing disappointing to me...

So many chances this year for any team to step up and just take the 6 seed. We blew several chances all season and had the easiest road in the past 2 weeks and blew it. 3 game win streak including a snow storm in Pitt and a home win against NE to get our hopes up and then 7 points in final 8 quarters of the season against two teams playing for nothing. This was a hugely disappointing season and nothing about it makes me feel good. AFC was so weak for the final seed, we beat 4 of the 6 AFC Playoff teams and again we ****ing blow it when it matters most.

Yea 2002 was bad. 7 Pro Bowlers, including Ricky Williams and his 1800 yards rushing, and controlling our own destiny for a BYE week . . . to falling flat on our faces and missing the playoffs.

This year was just typical though.

I can't remember a season in the last 20 that hasn't ended where it feels like I'm chewing on a big @&$! Burger. This season sucked but I wasn't surprised given the way this team has been so inconsistent all year long. 2002 was horrible though.

I don't think this season was any worse than any other, to be honest.

Outside of the Incognito/Martin bull**** this was just same ol' Dolphins. If anything, 8-8 was an improvement over what we've been for the past four years so it's hard for me to view this as a super disappointing season. I thought we would be a 9-7 type of team that would miss the playoffs, and we were an 8-8 team that missed the playoffs. Some things were better than I thought they would be, and some things were worse.

The thing that was better than I thought it would be outweighs the things that were worse than I thought they would be, because it's much harder to find that good thing (quarterback) than it is to fix those bad things (blocking and run defense). People who think Ryan Tannehill sucks and is a bust will be really, really mad about this season. I get that and I'm not gonna tell them to feel differently. People like me who think our QB is going to be pretty dang good might be disappointed that we had two awful games to close out the season, but I still feel like this team is in better shape to enjoy long term success than it has been at any point since Dan Marino was healthy.

But when you look at this team and see that we can't block worth a ****, our running backs are marginal at best, we have a 2nd year quarterback, we lost our starting TE and one of our best receiving threats to season ending injuries, our entire DL is fighting through injuries, our linebackers are awful, we only have one good healthy corner, our kicker is a ****ty midget, etc. etc. Are you really that disappointed with 8-8? Maybe the way it happened, yeah, that's disappointing. But I just kinda feel like people are grossly overrating the talent and coaching of this team to be horribly disappointed with 8-8 against a tough schedule. If anything, I felt like this team overachieved in 2013.

I will be far more disappointed next season if Ryan Tannehill doesn't take the step forward that I believe he will take.

Not anymore disappointed than any other year for me. 8-8 is average. I don't want to be a fan of an average team but I am. It is what it is.

2002 was in a way worse just because I hadn't been used to those Dolphins not having success. We managed to make the playoffs with Fiedler and Lamar Smith as our offense, and we were dramatically better there with Ricky Williams so it seemed a no-brainer that we would elevate. 2006 was disappointing, though truth be told I never really bought into Saban because his 9-7 in 2005 didn't impress me, having come from preying upon weak teams and having two of those victories come from a backup QB replacing an injured but ineffective starting Qb who was doing nothing down the stretch but starting anyway.

This year feels worse, though its not surprising. I don't trust Philbin and this team tried to give away most games they won, but when you've been devoid of playoffs but one game in ten years, it hurts a lot worse to see your team fail again. Failure feels like inevitability with this franchise. That's why Chad Pennington will always have a special place in my heart. He's the one Dolphin who bucked that trend, who instead of playing his worst football once true success was attainable, played his best. That game in KC week 16 of 2008 wasn't all that dissimilar from the winter road beating we were getting from Buffalo, but Chad elevated his play and lead a great comeback. We were in both the Jets and Bills games until late, and nobody stood up to make that play.

With the AFC being so weak this year this would have been the year to make the playoffs. So yes is my answer.

The AFC East was ours for the taking this year and with that a first round bye.

But we choked against New England the first go around, choked against Baltimore, choked against Buffalo, choked against Tampa, choked against Carolina, choked against Buffalo (again) and Jets to ice the cake.

If we had a coaching staff and players with a winning mentality, then we would (and should) have won AT LEAST 3-4 of those games (if not more).

We had the opportunity for a special season, but instead the culture of losing continues.
