Nice win, Lou. Seminoles not helping their resume at all lately.
I don't even think if ND wins this they get in, I think they need a lot more.
What a come back
The committee does take into account extenuating circumstances like player injuries. I'm not sure a team in the country had a bigger injury that Bonzie Colson. But winning today would certainly go a long way to help your cause.
I hope they don’t put Arizona State or Oklahoma in...
Pitt fires Kevin Stallings, after going 0-18 in ACC play. Dunno why they ever let Jamie Dixon go.
They replaced Dixon, who they felt didn't win enough (even though he won plenty of games) with Stallings who didn't win at all. Pitt gonna Pitt.
Every year around March Madness productivity at work places around the country drops. I get the feeling Lou isn't being very productive right now.
Virginia's defense is pretty amazing year after year.
Yeah, I just spent my lunch watching the first half. Unfortunately I've got my weekly staff meeting at 1 so I won't be watching the second half. Boo.
UVA plays like that every year. They're last in the NCAAs in pace of play and last in free throws attempted. Watching them is less fun than getting your teeth drilled. But that's also why they never do anything in the Dance. They have little margin for error, not being versatile with their style of play. If they aren't clicking exactly right, they lose more often than not because they can't play from behind very easily. Our game last Thursday being an exception that proves the rule. They're built to play with a lead and then let the air out of the basketball even more. I'd say that the game right now is pretty much over. U of L has already lost this game, especially with the way UVA is shooting right now.
You may want to fake an illness and get out of that meeting
Now VA is hitting everything, and Louisville is stagnant on offense.
Sooooo...we don't get in, ok I can't argue with that. But we're not even one of the first four out? There's something fishy there. USC and Ok St not making it either? All schools that are known in the FBI probe? Man I hate the NCAA with the fire of a thousand sun's.
Syracuse seemed to sneak in there
*Blank stare at Oklahoma*
I still can't believe USC didn't make it. How does a team that finishes 2nd in a power 5 conference not get an invite?
Word is that Louisville players voted not to accept the NIT invite but the interim AD had already signed and sent in the paper work. We play Northern Kentucky tonight at 7. We can sleep walk through that game and win. After that would be either MTSU or Vermont. Tonight's game is in the Yum Center, but they're having scheduling conflicts with playing a second game. The women's team is a #1 seed and are hosting their first 2 rounds.
I picked Duke to win the national title, because I hate myself.
But in all seriousness it's your classic win-win. Either Duke gets the title and my bracket is awesome, or Grayson Allen suffers one last soul crushing defeat for my amusement.
I filled out a single bracket and have Villanova winning it all.
I like the way the Big East was written off for dead when ND, Lou, Cuse, Pitt, etc left. Now they have a National Championship and 2 #1 seeds.
Honestly I thought they would be lost after everyone left. Glad to see the big east showin out
Jay Wright is one of the best coaches in the country and his system is well entrenched. I'm hoping he's on the shortlist along with Chris Mack from Xavier for our head coaching search.
IDGAF about Virginia. My bracket broke with Arizona.
That team has zero versatility with their style of play. Bennett didn't trust his team to press and play at a faster tempo until it was too late and they responded by turning into an NBA team with all the 1 x 1s and bad shots. While Odom decided at halftime to just let it all hang out and sprint the game to the end; it worked. Just a fantastic gamble that paid off. I hope whomever is our next coach reviews this game tape thoroughly.
After the game Bennett was as gracious as ever in his comments. He's a class act, but his style of play doesn't work in the post season and makes me want to pry my eyes out with a fork during the season.
Excellent thread here. 4 out 1 in spacing with drive and kick 3 is the future.
Great day for college basketball. My team wins, Cuse and in doing so they knock off that scumbag univeristy and it's scumbag coach Tom Izzo that is MSU in the process. Love it
Seminoles in the Sweet 16, baby! Knocked off the number 1 seed, Xavier.
Syracuse is still dancing!!!!
Craziest weekend of the tournament that I've seen in a looooooooooooong time.
His teams at Wazzu were the same way. The Boa Constrictor style works and will win you games during the regular season, but someone always catches fire and kills it during the postseason. Syracuse did it to them, Michigan State a few years ago, and now UM-BC.
He doesn't adapt, and it really costs him. Adjustments are so critical.
Louisville got rid of David Padgett...looks like they're going to hire Chris Mack as their full-time coach.
Yep, it looks that way. Mack was the first choice for sure. I'm happy with that hire, good up and coming coach.
Solid hire for them, absolutely. Definitely better than Padgett, who I thought did a decent job this year, all things considered.
He most certainly did. He's going to be an excellent coach, but he needs more seasoning at a mid-major program.
Middle Tennessee and Arkansas Little Rock have inquired about David Padgett. He's going to get a head coaching job for sure.
The funny thing is that even though Duke is obviously one of the best teams in the country this year and is a Blue Blood. Syracuse is too. But even though they are obviously favored and the better, more talented team. Like I feel the pressure is all on Duke, they are the 2 seed and expected to go to final four. Syracuse is playing with house money pretty much, and weren't supposed to be in tourney. I'd like them to go further, but was just happy seeing them get to sweet sixteen. But the analysts have Duke as 10pt favorite, but while this will be quite a challenge for Cuse, like I don't look at this game like "there's no way cuse can win this game or like it's a really long shot".
I felt that about Michigan State who are just as talented as Duke and viewed to go far and their strength with rebounding was set to have them beat Cuse, which the did out rebound but the zone prevented them from being efficient on offense and not capitilizing on extra shots. But if you ask me for cuse having to play bunch of top teams like Michigan, Michigan State, Nova, Kansas, UNC or Duke. I'm picking cuse's chances more so against Duke. And the reason is because of match ups, rivalries and track history. Yes Coach K knows the cuse zone, but Jim B knows how Duke runs things and ironically Duke is doing a zone this season too, But this game is not in Duke where cuse has a hard time winning, it's a neutral court in Omaha. And like I said with history. Syracuse CAN beat Dukem that's the thing with rivals and this is a one game system. You know how it goes, a team can be more talented and better record but lost to the lower record rival that a season and vice versa. Since in the ACC head to vs Duke, Syracuse is 5-6 out of the 11 games.
That's only one extra loss from 50/50 and past seasons they alsways seem to split. But 11 games Duke has only one more win than Cuse, therefore, it's been pretty even, and Duke was a top team last year and an off year for Cuse last year. Cuse a worse team than this season and yet Cuse beat duke with a buzzer beater by Gildon. It's like the years we've seen the dolphins have a winning record and bills look bad, yet they would still split during the season and fins lose a game out of the two and vice versa where bills had a better record and Fins look bad, but still get a win. Am I expecting Cuse to win? No, but I'm like not worried about it and I don't think it will be a blow out Duke win. I think the game is gonna be close and if Duke wins like expected, it will be a close game. Despite being 11 seed and what analysts think, I'm not so sure Syracuse was the team Coach K wanted Duke to see in tournament.
Sweet 16 has been solid so far
Wow, this year's tournament has been wild ha. Seriously we will have either a no.9 seed or no.11 seed go to the final four. Has that ever happened before? Kansas St upset and knocked off Kentucky and Loyola beat Nevada earlier. So there you have it for Saturday's game for the elite eight, no.11 Loyola vs no.9 Kansas St. Crazy
