This team will have around $20M in cap space in 2017 and have about 7 starters to replace because they are FA's next year. Many have a lot to prove this year and will be re-signed based on how they perform. (Suh has a $19.1M cap hit, Tannehill is at $20.3M)

Players that could be re-signed if they play well this year: Kenny Stills, Jordan Cameron, Jelani Jenkins, Kiko Alonso, Chris Culliver, MaQueis Gray

ERFA players that should get tendered: Julius Warmsely, Anthony Steen, possibly Mike Hull

Aging players that the team may move on from: John Denney, Jermon Bushrod, Arian Foster, Jason Jones

Players that will likely need to restructure: Branden Albert

And then you have Reshad Jones who will demand an extension (FA in 2018).

Mediocre players that will not get big contracts: Andre Branch, Justin Hunter, Spencer Paysinger, Isaih Pead, Michael Thomas, Dion Sims, Dallas Thomas, RFA Damien Williams

Potential cut for cap space: Earl Mitchell +4M, Mario Williams +8.5M (2M cap hit)

Players we are stuck with regardless due to cap hit: Byron Maxwell, IAQ, Cam Wake

In any case we will have to replace a lot of these players.

Figuring in FA, this is what our starting unit looks like in 2017: This is your core team.

QB Tannehill
RB Ajayi, Drake
WR Landry, Parker, Carroo, Grant
TE ?
LT Albert
LG Tunsil
C Pouncey
RG Turner
RT James

DE Wake, Fede
DT Suh
DT Phillips
DE Williams, Jordan
SLB Misi
MLB Vigil
WLB Hewitt
CB Howard
CB Maxwell
NCB McCain
FS IAQ, Aikens
SS Jones

Biggest need will be at the positions where we have no one. MLB & TE

Then fill the aging players spot DE x 2, then WLB

CB, FS, DT, RG & RB are positions that may or may not need addressed depending on how these guys play this year.

I am projecting that the only players re-signed are Kiko Alonso, Dion Sims, Marqueis Gray, Reshad Jones (ext) & offers tendered to Julius Warmsely & Anthony Steen.

2017 top draft needs: RB, TE, DE, LB (DT depending on Warmsley and Phillips)

Not as bad as I originally thought but still challenging.

I applaud you for thinking ahead before we even officially start the 2016 season.

I was trying to confirm what draft picks we have for 2017? (I understand the comp picks will play in and are still TBD).

Round 1 - 1
Round 2 - 1
Round 3 - Traded to vikings get one back for OV? (1)
Round 4 - Traded to Vikings (0)
Round 5 - 1 plus comp for Miller (1) - 2
Round 6 - 1
Round 7 - 1

Is that correct? not sure about Rd 6 and 7?

I've heard we should be in line for a 3rd and 4th. if they traded away our standard picks, they are bigger idiots than I thought.

Too early for me to think a head that far. I do know that we better take a RB. Its RB heavy next draft

I originally thought the same, but then saw this, of course its not an exact thing so who knows... (the 3rd is the standard pick though not the comp.)..

The current projections from Over the Cap have the Dolphins receiving a Compensatory selection in the third round (for the loss of defensive end Olivier Vernon) and one in the fifth round (for the loss of running back Lamar Miller), but not one in the fourth round. That means that Minnesota would receive the Dolphins' normal fourth-round selection unless something were to drastically change between now and next March.

We mentioned that the "conditions" surrounding that pick were that it would be the lowest selection that Miami had in the fourth round. . .meaning that if they received a fourth-round Compensatory draft choice, that's the pick that would go to Minnesota (as 2017 will be the first time that Compensatory picks will be up for trade). If they did not receive a fourth-round Compensatory pick, the Vikings would get Miami's regularly allotted fourth-round selection. There were no such conditions placed on the third-round choice.

Great effort bro. Can we move on from Pouncey? Wake starting at LDE? no way. I believe LB will be the biggest need. Of course what we do in free agency can change a few things here and there. A pass rushing DE could be our first round pick too. It all depends on who's on the board at the time we pick.

Ozzy rules!!

Oh forgot to say, I doubt Albert is back next year and Tunsil should start at LT which means we're back to needing a guard once again but we didn't draft Tunsil to play guard forever.

Ozzy rules!!

Fantastic work Eesti. I wonder if Mario Williams comes back on a restructured deal. Also, I'm not so sure Fat Albert is back and we move Tunsil to tackle. Hopefully Kiko pans out and we can get some more athletes at the LB position.

Best mlb available via draft, free agency or trade. Not just one old and finished or young and injured.

If this season is a little rough on us despite a solid showing from Tannehill, I wouldn't mind using that top 15 pick on a superstar RB.

But the 2017 draft needs to be defense heavy.

This is well done. You provide some quality analysis. I think dion sims is going to cost more than people think as he's a top shelf blocking tight end. This is the draft for the move tight end but it's probably gonna cost you a top 25 pick to get one of the top talents

Team has no high level tools pass rush talent with youth at de. Has to be a priority. And they require high picks

I'm only approaching Albert about a pay cut if his play falls off. Otherwise he's my left tackle for 2017 again at his current rate. Tunsils rookie deal makes it I don't have to move him due to salary that only validates left tackle. $15 mil between my left tackle and my left guard isn't the worst thing in the world in this free agency contracts day and age.

Kiko plays well tender him with a 1st rounder. You make that guy play on another one year pact before you think extension.

hey look I phones almost make complete sentences.

agree on Albert on the "if his play falls off". w/r to Sims - what do you think his value will be salary wise in FA?

Brandon Albert will be gone..Possibly Jordan Cameron and yes Earl Mitchell
