Well, that was almost a football game.
- Maybe it's because I have a terrible sinus headache and can barely think straight, but I really didn't find much to take away from this game, either good or bad. It was just a crappy, meaningless football game in which one team didn't even bother to play many of its starters. but still won by 17 points.
- Our first team offense had a marginal performance against a mix of (mostly) Ravens starters and a few backups.
- The second team and third team offense were sort of lousy.
- I would have liked to see Mike Gesciki have a chance to go up for a ball in the end zone, but unfortunately it appears that illegal contact / defensive pass interference was not being called tonight.
- Our first team defense looked, uh, well, they looked like our first team defense against the Ravens' backups. Minkah Fitzpatrick already looks like he might be our best defender. Robert Quinn did look good, too.
- Once again, the depth at the team's depth at linebacker is, uh, concerning.
- Special teams played pretty well.
- On both sides of the ball I have seen a lot of miscommunications, players pointing fingers, and general sloppiness which concerns me. Adam Gase overhauled his coaching staff because he wanted things taught better and/or differently, but so far I'm seeing no evidence of that at all.
Looking forward to September 9th, but I anticipate a slow start for this team based on what I saw tonight. Tennessee is tough at the line of scrimmage, so these boys had better pick it up in a hurry.
