Where do we stand next year with cap space. If Ryan does not have a good year who do we go after in FA the Draft or Trade market?

Ryan is going to have a good year, so I don’t think we have to worry about his replacement at the moment. If he doesn’t or is injured we are going to be in a bad place.

we are fine cap wise. lots of contracts that are easy to get out of from overpaid players

Fine, cap wise perhaps, but I cringe at the thought of blowing it up, a starting over.

Those overpaid players, aren't they the ones who are going to lead us to a winning record this year? Because we're 3 million over the cap in 2019 as of now and the only players we can get rid of and save at least 3 million are Quinn (12m), D. Parker (9m), Amendola (6m), Stills (4.5m), Sitton (3m), Branch and Alonso -we can save 8 million on those two with 5.5 million dead money if we cut them. That means that once we cut them, Suh, Alonso and Branch will count 20 million against the 2019 cap. In what universe is this fine, I do not know.

a couple of things. we are 6 mil under for next year... got it isn't a lot... but you are forgetting the at least 10mil we can push over next year since we are at 14 mil right now, as long as we don't have a huge injury or spend a bunch more.
there in no way reshad jones will be paid 17 mil next year(but who knows?), this puts him at the #1 paid safety in the league and it wouldn't be close. jmo, there is no way he plays with a cap hit of 17mil. he will have to restructure.
next question is which Robert quinn do we get? if he isn't good we save 12.9 mil no dead. branch and kiko wouild save us 11 with 5 dead. danny saves us 6 if cut, no dead. so right there is a ton of money. how is it not good. you will always have dead money, but the one and only thing good that tannenbaum does is mess with the cap. kinda like we did this year. except a lot less dead money. we will be fine. stop overreacting.....

I don't think I'm overreacting. Cap space is relative. Dead money is relative. If I'm shopping with 100 bucks but everyone else has 1000 I'm going to fall behind. As of today, we have 13 million in dead money next year. The team with the second most dead money has 3 million. We have 6 million in cap space (according to OTC, Spotrac says -3), everyone else except JAX and PHI has more.

We will be "ok", yes, but how ok is "ok"? People have been saying we'll be ok since the Suh deal got signed, yet his dead money next year is just about enough to pay Landry what he wants. The point is Tannenbaum's shenanigans keep putting us at a competitive disadvantage.

You mention Rashad. He's going to be the next Suh, cap-wise. He's already 30 and he has a 17 million cap hit next year, but cutting him would only save 6 million with 11 million in dead. And you say restructure, which will only push the problem back until we have to cut him and eat a bunch of dead money again.

We could be so much more competitive if we had solid financials. It's an essential aspect of the game.

Man... they will find ways. Kiko will probably be gone, so will branch. If Jones restructures and we take a bigger hit later on so be it. Next year is going to be tight but in 2020 we have something like 80 million inprojecred cap space so dont think they wont use that to their full advantage in restructuring contracts. There are a lot of moves they could make to create cap space... this is a non issue

Even if Tannehill regresses badly, he's probably still on the roster in 2019. Unless the team wants to eat $13.5mm in dead cap, they're drafting a QB early and letting him battle it out with Tannehill. If he doesn't perform either year, he's gone in 2020.
