I like Jakeem, I think his speEd is great for our future QB. As the article states though, he’s piling up an injury history. Can he stay healthy this year? Will he excel in Gaileys system?

here i was, thinking about writing something about his penchant for drops until i realized he was marginally worse than the team average in drop rate (6.2 % to 6.0 %). thats's pretty rough.

in defense of our WRs, are on target percentage (71.5 %) was 6th lowest in the NFL

Curious, where did you get the drop rate numbers from? I do agree that Grant is average in drops.

On that site I'm showing Grant at 3.0 drop % in 2019 and 2.9 in 2018. When you said 6.2 is that career numbers or am I looking in the wrong area? For example I'm seeing Grant with 1 drop in 33 targets in 2019.

I think it is rather telling that his 4 year career totals would make a solid season.

He has 53 catches for 635 yards and 5 touchdowns.

Not a good season, but a solid one.

looks like it 's career. look under the category efficiency.

In which case mea culpa

In my opinion, this is his last year to show that he can be relied upon as a wide receiver and not just a return specialist. As someone mentioned above, his career stats make a solid season and that is about it. I can see him being replaced in the return duties at some point this season by one of the new young guys to give him a final chance to concentrate on WR but if the team is making progress and he is not, it is time to move on.

I like Grant and think he's ok for your 4th, 5th or 6th wr. However, and I know It wouldn't go over to well here, if the 49ers were to look to get rid of Dante Pettis I would love have him fill Grant's roster spot. Pettis returning punts and Igbinoghene returning kickoffs works fine for me. Pettis is slower than Grant but would be a bigger target and is a solid route runner. Pettis might not be a solid starting option, but he would be nice in a reserve role.

He'll make some plays for sure, but itll be hard to steal away snaps from the top guys for him, imo. Unless he and Tua develop some kind of connection

I would have no issue cutting Grant/Hurns and letting Wilson walk after this year. Our WR depth chart is cluttered with underperforming, injury prone guys. Develop players like Williams, Perry and Jennings. Draft a WR with one of our day 1 or 2 picks and we are good to go in 2021.
