2022 Free Agent contract grades

Don’t blame OP for sharing but all of these instant reaction grades are stupid. There are some very rare deals that are obviously stupid on Day One. All the rest are TBD and depend on so many variables that it’s silly to even try to grade them.

For example, if Raheem Mostert comes to the Fins and stays healthy and averages 5+ yards per carry like he has for his career, then paying Chase Edmonds $6 million per year was really dumb. If Mostert comes here and tears his ACL and Edmonds gets 300 touches playing a Deebo-esque role, then signing him for $6 million was a steal. If we go RBBC and Edmonds just works as a quality 2-down back who catches a lot of balls, then he’s being paid just right.

Grade could be anywhere from A to F depending on things nobody can definitively project right now.

It’s in the eyes of the writer. Up for debate. Brings up some good points as well.

My Dallas fan friend said he really liked him. :ffic:

Yeah every Dallas fan I’ve talked to said when he’s been given the chance due to injury he filled in perfectly. I mean 600 yards isn’t no slouch effort considering he was their 4th string wideout behind Ceedee,Cooper and Gallup.

The grades seem fair IMO. Both Edmunds and Wilson feel like the type of player we could find in the draft for much cheaper but I suppose we will see.

As the article says;

“If Wilson matches what he did in Dallas for part of the 2021 season then $7 million will be a bargain. If he doesnt then Miami overspent by $3 to $4 million a year and really over guaranteed the contract.”

Could probably say that about every contract ever signed.
