@Pachyderm_Wave I know you dont really care about a guy ranked 67th on your list  CJ is suspended indefinately. Rumor is its just for weed, but ECU has always been a stickler for cracking down on everything and strict discipline (one of the reasons I said Ruffin McNeil could never coach at a power 5 school)

I’m aware. It’s not affecting his stock one way or the other.

He was only going to get a shot as a UDFA whether he’s suspended or not - which is why I have him ranked 67.

Matt Landers ARK won the combine today for me. He will be the only wideout with 1st round grade for me.

I couldn't put a 1st round grade on someone who had a great combine, but only 79 career receptions and only 32 prior to his senior season. Had he not ran a 4.3 would you still have drafted him that high. My understanding is he was considered a 7th round option or udfa prospect prior to the combine. I'm not saying he can't become a decent player, but it just seems like a big leap to go from undrafted to the highest rated wr on your board based on one day at the combine.

I know his volume was low, but per game production was excellent. I see his production as excellent. There are players who had more volume, but their impact per game was not as good.
For example:
Quentin Johnston who is a projected 1st round pick in last two years:
20 games, 12 TD, 93 catches, 1700 yards, 18 avg
Matt Landers
19 games, 13 TD, 67 catches, 1400 yards, 21 avg

More touchdowns in less appearances and better average. Similar frame.
He is in Christian Watson, Chase Claypool, AJ Green mold. He is a #1 receiver material. Not just a decent player who can potentially be #2 at best, like Zay Flowers for example.

As far as 4.37 40, yes he would be my 1st round value if he ran as low as 4.5 40. But 4.37 puts him clearly in the 1st round.
By the way, I am likely not going to have Quentin Johnston on my list of interests. I do not like his height/production combination.

Maybe I should use the ignore button?

Its just Largo being Largo.

Slimm goes straight to DefCon 1 on people and Largo puts 7th rounders in R1 and future Pro Bowlers off his board.

It's what we do here. ;)
It's mainly because these highly touted players especially from Bama they don't participate in drills. They are off my board.
When I do my list I will hardly have anyone who did not participate in drills. I say this every year, and every year you are surprised, but that is how it goes.

I know it is what you do but every year you take quality players off your board if they don't work out.

Pretty soon these kids are going to stop working out altogether, at least at the Combine and then you are going to have to watch them play football.

Alabama players will certainly be disappointed to hear they are off your board.

Alabama just set a record with 70 players on NFL rosters in 2022.

Most of the league leaders either at the top or near the top in rushing, receiving, passing, sacks, blocking and interceptions are Alabama players.

Every year we tell you that you are doing it wrong and every year you are surprised.

You cannot evaluate football players if you don’t watch them play.

That's fine, they can play for someone else. I couple of years ago they pulled that clown show at pro day. No, I do not like it.

But most importantly, athleticism is important and testing. Someone will say Connor Galvin is a good tackle, we should get him. Then Chris Grier will draft him, ney, he will move up to get him, and there will be a bandwagon on how he should start and he has future and stupid stuff like that. But he just ran 5.48 40. That's hardly good enough to play on a high school team. That's the bottom line point and why testing matters.

Well Baylor has had more guys run 4.2 at the combine over the past few years than any other college program. Those players haven’t exactly lit the NFL on fire either.

Testing only matters if you’ve seen the players play. Mayor Grier hasn’t seen anybody play either and he’s a GM in the NFL. So don’t feel too bad.
