2025 draft

Not bad, but I hate not addressing QB here.

I think a backup/plan B is almost mandatory.

We may want to go edge in round 1 again (I HATE saying this, but we have no ****ing pass rush, Chop needs help)

A lot will depend on what our draft position is. If we end up with a high pick (which I doubt) Id really like to trade down and accumulate more picks, even future picks if needed.

We need to fix the trenches and we need a lot of picks to do it.
This is one of the biggest questions for the offseason, can we count on Chubb or Phillips to return to form? Lots of talent at the top of the draft at edge. Wouldn't be shocked if they went Penn St. again, Carter is a monster you can move around.

OL yes.....even 2nd round I'd look for IOL but as far as RB......we have Achane and Wright so I'd look for a big RB on day 3 for short yards situations
Fair enough we have to see how the board falls. Connor Colby looks like he could step in day one at guard in this zone system.

Can’t count on them at all.

I don't see how those players still being in the NFL is relevant. He's supposed to draft talent for the Miami Dolphins not talent that's good enough to stick around the NFL as journeymen or depth pieces for other teams.

Only Hunt, Van Ginkle, Wilkins, and Jones are starting pieces for other teams. How is it on Grier that we don't have these players? Due to his lack of draft success he has to go trade and pay big money for Hill, Chubb, Ramsey. Hill and Chubb cost 1st round picks those are 1st round picks we could have used for younger cheaper talent and cap space to keep guys like Van Ginkel, Wilkins and Jones (maybe we don't keep all 3 but Van Kinkel and Jones would have been better than Chubb and Poyer). If he hits on Iggy or Cam Smith we don't have to trade for Ramsey. If we draft Jefferson we don't have to trade for Hill and give up a 1st and maybe we don't have to draft Waddle and instead go after Surtain, Sewell or Parsons. We had 9 1st and 2nd round picks in a 2 year span and walked away with 0 elite talent, 0 All Pro players. It's not good enough that he drafted guys that are on an NFL roster. With a competent GM we could have built a powerhouse like the Cowboys of the 90s.

Jimmy Johnson drafted Zach Thomas, Jason Taylor, Pat Surtain, Sam Madison, Tim Bowens. These are elite players drafted in a 2-3 year span they were the foundation of our defense for almost a decade. Chris Grier hasn't hit on any elite talent in the past 6 drafts. I can't remember the last time we drafted a player that made an All Pro team for the Miami Dolphins.
So in two drafts where we had 26 draft picks, we had 5 players who made it 5 years in the NFL. Anywhere. But having 14 Starters out of 32 picks in the NFL, not counting the 2024 class, is a fileable offense?

The replacement players for Van Ginkle, Wilkins and Brandon Jones are failures. Non of the F/A signed, to take their place, have done anything to replace their production.

The draft appears to have netted Miami a good group of rotational players. Chop Robinson, Wright and Washington seem to be capable guys. Where it failed is, getting starting caliber replacements for the F/A defections.

The thing both have in common?

You guessed it, Chris Grier.

The firable offense is he's been in charge since 2016 and since 2016 we haven't won the division, we haven't won a playoff game, and we don't currently have any elite talent on this roster. He's on coach #2 who seems to be trending down and we're no closer to being a good team than we were back in 2016. Also drafting decent starters and role players isn't good enough. Where is the elite talent on this team? We have none that was drafted and that's a problem. Elite teams have elite talent.

Both of these players are top 5 picks - so Miami has mediocre themselves out of those potential picks… I’d trade Waddle and Tyreek - they both deserve a chance to win championships - but I don’t see it… the Dolphins are dead in the water (pardon the pun) for 6 to 7 more years - we built a thing that does NOT work in the NFL… being 9-8 or 8-9 is absolute worse case scenario for your future…
Neither is a top 5 talent

Now that the season is basically over, how are we going to fix this roster? We have to start in the trenches.

I went on to the Pro Football Network draft simulator site and came up with this mock draft.

R1. OT Kelvin Banks - Texas - Last night Armstead looked washed. Its time to move on. Banks can play OT and OG. So ideally Patrick Paul is not a bust and he can actually play then Banks can play LG.

R2. DT Deone Walker - Kentucky - Campbell will probably retire so all we really will have is Seiler so even with Walker there is more work to do.

R3. S Sebastian Castro - Iowa - Holland is not worth the money which we don't have anyway. Poyer will be gone so we will need 2 new Safeties.

R3. LB Danny Stutsman - Oklahoma - We need a more instinctual and physical LB who can tackle.

R4. S Keon Sabb - Alabama - We need 2 new safeties.

R5. OG Luke Kandra - Cincinnati - Replacement for Liam at RG.

R5. RB Damien Martinez - Miami - We need a more physical RB.

R7. DE Mike Green - Marshall - We can always use more pass rushers.

R7. WR Jeremiah Hunter - Washington - We need better WR depth.

R7. DT Alfred Collins - Texas - More of a 3-4 DE which is what we need since Walker is a true NT.

This draft doesn't solve everything but it can be a good start to rebuilding this roster.
I totally agree with you. I think we need 2 new safeties. There is no way I pay Holland big bucks.
