2025 NFL Redraft - Grey Zabel To The Dolphins

While fun to consider, I think exercises like this are a waste of time barely a year into these players' careers. Some positions develop faster than others, some players in the same positions develop at different speeds, some players will suffer career ending/threatening injuries, some will regress. It also ignores need (good) and opportunity cost. On top of that, it assumes that the systems and the coaching/development and the conditioning programs are equal throughout the league, which we know isn't true.

that sounds like an excuse for a really bad draft to me!

Quinyon Mitchell might be the closest thing the nfl has right now to a shut down coverage corner these days.
Agreed, the past 2 years we could have drafted sure thing Pro Bowl or even All Pro players Mitchell and Warren yet we passed. Thats why drafting for need can get you in trouble.

Zabel
Warren
Mitchell
Barron

we could have thrown darts at a list of the top 50 players and done a better job than Grier did with his first two picks.

Barron really didn’t do much as a nickel for Denver I don’t know why he’s on that list. Heck he couldn’t even beat out that other white corner that wears a massive target every week.

Miami would have never gotten the same bang for its buck with Warren that the colts did. They did a terrific job of scheming him open. And by open I mean wide open. Still doesn’t offer much as an iso win option vs man though.

I agree, but Edge was a need not knowing how soon JP and Chubb would return in the 2024 season.

I really wanted Verse. Unfortunately the Rams took him at 19 and we were selecting at 21.

The DB Mitchell was the BPA and who we should have taken.
That's why I always hated drafting for need. If Chop was that high on Griers draft board he was never a really good scout. He like Ireland talked over everybody thinking they knew more than everyone else

I really won't call Chop or Grant a bust at this point. Give rookies with bad coaches three years to develop. If Chop fails this year he's a bust. Grant improved as the season went on, but if he doesn't hit the weights this offseason he's not looking good.

I personally have a tough time judging people in one game or one season. Gotta give people a few years, unless they are toxic to the team. Players that are endlessly on the weekly inactive roster are the ones that matter. Iggy. One example. That LB from 3rd round (I'm so bad at names).

Tua this year. 🤣

Id call chop a bust. That was a horrific 2nd season. Across the board.

Two stepped with every tackle he saw. Lost snaps to a corpse in judon.

But I will say the wide 9 probably does help chop get more snaps. God knows he’s awful against the run anyways. And a joke of a situational rusher.

Many of us liked what we saw with Chop in his rookie year.

I think it is too early to call him a bust. I didn't get bringing in Judon or their decision to give him snaps in place of Robinson but in a dysfunctional year with the team and an injury prone one for Chop I'm going to give him a little grace. If Hafley and Duggan can't bring out a lot more from him we can re-visit the bust designation.

Chop cleaned up on backup and depth tackles his rookie year. But hey you do you. I didn’t see a worse situational rusher in football at least of the teams plan a options I sure didn’t this last season.
