What are the odds you land even a decent QB after the 5th round?

The most important player you need on the field is a QB, whether it's next season or 2027

Simpson is rumored to have herniated disc issues in his back. Reports surfaced towards the end of the season, he was not playing well due to injury. Whether the back issues are true or not, I can't say. If proven true, are you still willing to take him at #11? Then there is the lack of experience as a starter with 15 starts.

I'll pass.
I would not take a player with serious injuries like a herniated disc. I wouldn't draft the Tenn CB coming off an ACL either

Guess we'll find out what's up w Simpson soon,

Here is the best strategy for drafting this year:
1. Say this loud and repeat it until you get it: BEST PLAYER AVAILABLE! No reaching for positions
2. Trade picks this year for higher picks next year. This draft class is not at promising and next year's could be, especially if we look for a QB next season.
Qb are hit and miss. For example what are chance on Mendoza being successful as raiders qb in afc west. Dolphins can draft qb in 3rd or 4th rd this yr.

I will say upfront I don't love this draft because it is lacking in depth and talent at certain positions especially quarterback.

The two guys I love for Miami are Reuben Bain and Frances Mauioga. Problem is I think they'll both be gone by the time we pick.

I like the two Utah tackles but they're light at 305lbs or so. And is it worth taking one at 11 if we're going to play him at guard?

We need corners desperately and there are 3 potential starters in Delane, McCoy and Terrell.
I think there's enough depth in this draft that we could get a good corner or IOL in round 2 or 3.

I just listened to Jeff Hafley's interview with Schraeger and it just confirmed what I think about him. There might be growing pains but he's going to coach this. team into 6-8 wins next year despite the very tough schedule.

Will we be in position to select one of the top QB's next draft? will the QB draft turn into what the '26 QB draft with a bunch of disappointing prospects and ones that decided to return to school? The '27 draft should be way better for QBs than this one but who knows?

I think Ty Simpson has the potential to be a really good starter if he's not rushed. It's possible the Jets or Cards/Browns could take him but I think he's going to be a tough sell for a GM picking in the top 5 or so.

Why not take Simpson this year, let him develop with Slowik and his QB coach for a year or two? I think he showed his upside this season when Bama beat Georgia and Vanderbilt. He didn't look good at the end of the season but nor did the rest of his offense. His OL was terrible and didn't give him a lot of time to throw but the arm talent and athletic ability are there for Simpson.

Why not grab him this year, let him develop and build out the O-line and skill spots for him during the next 2-3 drafts?
I think we run up to the podium, draft Caleb Downs and laugh all the way to the bank.

I just did one of the mock simulations: At 11 Mauigoa was there, next pick Ty Simpson was there followed by Akeemk Mesidor, Edge rusher from the U of Miami, next came Louis Moore Safety from Indiana and Malik Muhammad. Than I did some more oline stuff by snagging Austin Barber OT, Fla, Febechi Nwaiwu OG Oka and Jake Slaughter Interior lineman from Fla, next was Receiver CJ Daniels Receiver from the U. We upgraded the oline, grabbed the 2nd best QB and got some great help for the defensive backfield. Last pick was Zavian Harris DT Ole Miss. There were a couple trade downs. I get that it's fantasy but that's a draft I can deal with.

It's going to take at least 2 years to get the roster back in shape. No need or reason to reach for a QB this year. There will be a much better selection to draft in 27.
We have needs at almost every position. It's got to be BPA going forward. Not that it means a hill of beans, but I've run dozens of mock drafts and there are plenty of solid players available in the early rounds for us to pick from. We should be able to get our choice of quality guys at OT, WR, CB, OG, S and maybe even an Edge if things fall just right.
Let JES and Shore start getting the salary cap fixed and sprinkle in a few serviceable FA's and they may just be able to put a team on the field that is not a major embarrassment.
