2026 Quarterback Class

I'm not impressed with 2027 class.

You are quoting a tweet with these QBs listed:

Dante Moore
Ty Simpson
LaNorris Sellers
Julian Sayian
Darian Mensah
Trinidad Chambliss
CJ Carr
Arch Manning
Sam Leavitt
Dylan Raiola
Jayden Maiava
John Mateer

You aren’t impressed, but I have no idea why this might be the best quarterback class ever, and definitely the best since 2020 imo. What doesn’t impress you about these guys assuming they all declare for the 2027 draft? You can make a case for at least half of them to be the number one overall pick, but I’d love to hear your reasoning on why you aren’t impressed.

He misses way too many bunnies. Those bama kids are open all over the place too and that oline is way better than what sellers and manning are playing with.

I’ll stand by the best pro prospect on that team is wr Ryan Williams

I agree with you that Williams is the best prospect on that team, but Simpson will end up being drafted higher simply because he plays a more coveted position. That’s assuming he declares for the 2026 draft, if he waits till 2027 he’s gonna be picked way lower with all the great QB prospects in 2027. It would be a very dumb decision financially for Simpson to not declare for this years draft, where his main competition will be Mendoza, and to wait till next year when he will get overshadowed by all these guys with much higher ceilings than him physically.

His most significant fault is the sidearm throwing style, which makes him inconsistent for both accuracy and distance control.

That’s not a skill that keeps you from being an NFL starting QB. If that was his throwing style 100% of the time sure. But it’s not. He just uses it when not needed. Agreed he needs to improve in that area but you’re mistaking skill set, which he clearly has NFL starter skills, with mechanics and an experience.

I agree with your philosophy but I have a hard time believing the owner does too

But we can hope
I think it is easy to tell the owner what he needs to do when you have zero financial investment in the team. Even if you are a season ticket holder that is literal chump change compared to paying Tua $100M to not be on our team. Most of us have a hard time admitting when we are wrong and I can promise you I have never made a $100M mistake. I don’t see Ross having it in him to make that kind of choice.

I do agree that we can all hope. I have nothing against Tua, but he simply isn’t the answer.

Right now that class is weak. Arch could surprise next year. Other than that, it does not look promising. Certainly not worth tanking.

Nonsense. Every throw Arch makes is with a sidearm technique. He reminds me of Stanford's former highly recruited QB KJ Costello; a guy who put up sensational high school stats, was decent in college, but had little chance of playing NFL QB.

We’ll have to agree to disagree, I think it’s an amazing class and think you’ll be more impressed by the end of next year assuming guys like Moore and Sellers return to school for another year. Even if they don’t, it’s still a pretty stacked class without them.

Just like this year in 26 we will still be around .500 picking in the teens wondering what Ross is going to do about our G.M and Coach.
I suspect Champ McDaniel and Tua for 26 season.
Ross won't clean house and another season will go by and we won't be any closer to finding solutions to our never ending problems

I wouldn’t remotely say that Mendoza is a generational talent but I think he will be a quality QB because of his makeup. He is committed and constantly working. He’s a leader, smart and likable. You have to like the 6’5 frame and he can run if he’s got open grass in front of him. If he works with a quality offensive mind, I think he will be very solid.

Beyond that, in ‘27 there seem to be a number of good options. If we can think ahead we should load up for that draft.

Instead of tanking, we might have to do a trade up if we figure out the right guy. KC traded up for Mahomes. Buffalo traded up for Allen. Baltimore traded back into the late first for Jackson.

Tanking is not necessary. Being a smart franchise is.
