now that drew brees is having the best season of his career, do u have second thoughts about not getting him. i know he was a lot of money but now looking back would u have taken the deal? look at what we could have had.

One of the things I remember about the whole Drew Brees negotiations is that he was holding out for more money. Many fans here were lambasting him for it. New Orleans ended up giving him a 10 Million Dollar contract and there was no way we were going to match that.

PS: 20/20 Hindsight is a great thing if you can go back in time and correct it. Since we cannot do that, what's the point in dwelling over what ifs?
PPS: Drew Brees is not here and some people need to get over it and move on.

we have so many threads on this......................... no body knew he would recovor this well from his injury

And

If we knew he was going to do this then we would have signed him but no team did

well can he get any better? or is drew all downhill from here

Hindsight is always 20/20. We can 2nd guess all we want, but there is no telling how Brees would have done in this offense. One can only speculate.

Not really. What people don't realize is that Drew Brees is that his armed was more damaged than what was let on.

Now while Hindsight is 20/20, people with 20/20 vision can still miss things. Saints have a great O-Line. We don't (though the right side of the O-line, from Hadnot down, I wouldn't trade for nothing). Would Brees still succeed here with our inconsistencies on the most important areas of the O?

And yet another thread...

The whole injury thing is bull. Its not as if Daunte was healthy himself and if anything he was worse (with all 3 ligaments in his leg toasted) and he hurt the Dolphins by not admitting he wasnt healthy enough to play early in the season. At least with Brees' arm you know hes getting better because hes going to have to throw every day in practice, you can see the progress. With Daunte he didnt have to show the full flexibility of his leg cause he didnt have to use it all the time. The Dolphin medical staff that looked at both players before giving an evaluation need to be fired for this mistake. A final note, Daunte was having his worst season to date before he even got hurt and showed no signs of getting out of that funk before being de-activated this year while Brees had only had a slightly less pro-bowl year than he did the year before when he got hurt.

It was a bad choice thats for sure and now we can only hope Daunte comes back (fully healthy this time!) to at least make it look like we didnt totally get screwed.

you just dont get it

first off we couldnt afford him, secondly even if we could why tie up so much money on one player when were trying to build for the future, you see we are rebuilding but football is a business to so saban has to bring in enough talent to keep us competitive while he also builds for the future. if any of you think were going to win a superbowl in the next couple of years you are dillusional.
this team we have now wont even resemble what we have in three years, so why mortgage our future on brees when our future isnt even here yet, hed be in his thities by the time saban has this team built to win:cooldude:
