We obviously need a QB, but I think the best options will be gone by 15.
We don’t need a Tackle bc Alabi is the future at left and Carey is adequate at right. Hadnot will move to C, so we need a RG. So, I dont think O-Line is a priority early.
WR is more of a want.

We need a nose tackle, not a defensive tackle, but a big nose tackle for the 3-4. Traylor is leaving next year, and we have been miserable against the run when he was out. See Cedric Houston-6th round rookie last week.

We need a LB to go with Zach and Crowder. Spragan is average.

We need depth and youth in the secondary. Madison is aging, Daniels is good. Poole and Mitchell are unproven starters at nfl level. Schulters is aging. Tebucky Jones will be released. Tillman and Bell are average. So we need a new CB or FS or SS.

Needs: QB, RG, NT, LB, DB.

In round 1, I would draft these players if they fall, but I think that they will be gone.
Haloti Ngata, Jay Cutler, Jimmy Williams

1st round options:
Ahmad Brooks -LB, UVA-huge
Chad Greenway -LB, Iowa-playmaker
Tye Hill -CB -perhaps too early
Michael Huff -Texas-can play any position
Gabe Watson -NT, perhaps too early
Tambali Hall -the top rated 3-4 olb, currently de for penn state. he is mid rounder by mel kiper. he is 6’3 265, i think he is this years Shawn Merriman.

2nd round options:
Bobby Carpenter Ohio State, lb
Abdul Hodge Iowa, lb
LaRon Landry-s
Darnell Bing-s
Jason Allen-db
Manny Lawson -de for nc state, 3-4 edge rusher
Darryl Tapp -de for va tech, 3-4 olb

This is my picks for rounds 1 and 2. Best player in later rounds. I really think that we will get one of these 3-4 hybrid lbs with my pick being Tambali Hall. He really is the best playmaker available around 15, and fills a big need.

I really really like Manny Lawson and I think he will have a great carreer in the NFL.:dolphins:

Been hearing some good things about Manny Lawson. Chad Greenway is definitely a Saban type of guy. Patrick Willis has been brought up recently, and he's a maniac on the field.

If our early round options start getting limited, I still think Saban would have to end up looking at Cameron Vaught. At 6'4" and 240 lbs he sounds ideal for the strong side. I think he played the position for Saban at LSU before moving to the middle for Les Miles. I think he is a player that Nick likes too.

Isn't Greenway from Matt Roth's Alma Mater?

Yup. If I'm not mistaken, he plays a bit unhinged like Roth too. Kirk Ferentz is a guy Saban will probably keep trying to draft players from just like Bill Belichick kept drafting players from Nick Saban.

Oh God, Roth and Greenway having reunion?!

I don't know whether to laugh at the rest of the AFC East if we dratf Greenway, or pray for them.

On second thought, I'll just laugh at them!:sidelol:

B.Carpenter from Thee Ohio State University...he is overlooked alot because of Hawk. If we can snag him in the 2nd we should all be happy....

Carpenter is VERY VERY similar to former Buckeye Mike Vrabel.

I remember how Courtney Brown and Arrington looked dominant side by side at Penn State. Arrington ended up being for real, Brown not so much. Matt Roth hasn't been so hot his rookie year. I hope that doesn't mean Greenway was for real and Roth was not.

Absolutely. I have a good case of man love for Carpenter too. Heck, I'd take both Greenway and Carpenter if I could. Right now we seem to have a lot of MLB type dudes on the roster...top three guys being Zach, Pope, and Crowder. We need to add some OLB power and size to that with guys like Carpenter and/or Greenway.

Cameron Vaughn??

ckparrothead,

Cameron Vaughn
6'3, 240
LB for LSU. He is rated somewhere in the 25-30 range for olb's. In other words, he is a 7th round draft pick. Do you know some secret info on him to think that he is better than this? or do you think saban will get him with one of the 7th round picks?

How much of a 3-4 are we expected to run next year?

And does anyone thing Roth could play OLB in a 3-4 front?

Well, it just got pointed out to me that Mel Kiper in a recent chat said that Cameron Vaughn is a very underrated linebacker and said nobody should be surprised to see him drafted in the 3rd or even 2nd round. So, I'm thinking perhaps the 7th round grades on him are a bit outdated.
