here's my list:

1-hiring hudson houck.
we all know our line was one of the worst in the nfl and inmediate help was needed. houck made it work with what we had(no bigname acquisitions or high draft picks) which is impressive. the line allowed just 26 sacks and the rushing game had an average of 4.3 ypc. the line only figures to get better under this guy.

2-acquiring culppeper form the vikings for a 2nd rounder.
well, there is not much I can say about this one. it is just a steal to get a probowl qb entering his prime for just a 2nd rounder and nothing else. it only remains to be seen when he is healthy enough to play a game.

3-drafting the steal of last year's draft(channing crowder)in the 3rd round.
u may be asking yourselves why I didn't mention ronnie brown, well because 1st rounders(specially the second pick of the draft) is expected to contribute almost inmediatly(as he did) and then to be a probowler, and that can't be said of a 3rd rounder. to find a guy who can make an impact as a rookie and also be a fulltime starter for years to come is not easy. channing crowder is just that kind of guy.

honorable metion: the hiring of scott lineham was also a great move. he is not with us anymore but his system was effective(good for 14 in the league). it helped players like chambers, ricky, ronnie and the o-line gain confidence and it was the first time in a while that we had some fun watching the pass first, spread offense tendencies which we will still run(with certain variations).

Hiring Baggett was also a good move. He was great with Daunte on the sideline in MN.

Totally agree with you on Houck and Daunte. And Channing Crowder will be a hell of a football player. But even though Ronnie Brown was a no-brainer #2 overall draft pick, he's a guy you can build an offense around. He will just keep getting better and better. He has power, speed, great hands...Ronnie Brown and Daunte Culpepper...I still get goosebumps thinking about it!

overall getting younger on defense. He has kept the key vets around *save for madison* but obtained many younger guys to carry the load in the years to come.

Great move was getting Kevin Carter in he has great leadership skills which we didn't have before, yes JT andZT are not vocal leaders.
Daunte instead Brees is #1, overall coaching staff, that's amazing,

As much as I like the Crowder pick, wouldn't the Daniels pick and playing time be better? Who expects a 4th rounder to come in and start that many games at corner(granted he may have only got in because Poole got hurt). I mean Crowder had 1st round talent(by some accounts), so using a 3rd on a player of that level seems kind of like a no-brainer.

1) Accepting Waynes offer.

2) Having his "Process" developed.

3) Implementing his Process through Free Agency & the Draft.

He is confident that he is in the right place at the right time.

I would have to say Saban's best move (one of the many) was cleaning out all the unwanted leftovers of the Wanny-Spielman era... I'm not gonna bash either Dave or Rick, but they simply did a poor job getting the right guys for the job onto this roster (with the exception of a few:wink: )... Saban came here, had a system to install, and now he is getting the guys that fit HIS system, and I think that is one of the things that will give him a lot of success in Miami... hell, if we can go 9-7 with Gus F. at QB, imagine a healthy Daunte Culpepper:D ....

Maybe I'm wrong, but I would think that any rookie that comes in and starts and is successful has first round talent.

I would love for us to be able to pick up all of our first round talent in the forth.:D

You're very right. I didn't mean just corner, but I was just trying to say how Saban chose to play a 4th round rookie, rather then a veteran we had. Crowder had the talent to go higher, so I guess I just expected him to produce. Granted I didn't expect him to do as well as he did as a rookie, but I never imagined Daniels to hold his own so well.

Tough to say. I'm not comfortable commenting on moves this year until I see them play out. Suffice it to say Channing Crowder isnt quite on my top 3...yet.

Houck is up there, I think Linehan too because his offense forms the basis for our playbook and Linehan I believe deserves a lot of credit for the OL turnaround too. I was really ticked at some of the game plans Linehan developed and some of the calls he made but overall he had a big net positive effect on the team...and not for nothing but we only seriously discussed Culpepper because of Linehan's constant praise.

Ronnie Brown may be up there. He resisted Aaron Rodgers, and Braylon Edwards, and now our RB position has nothing to worry about for years.

IMO, Travis Daniels goes higher up than Channing...I thought we'd have been ok at WLB without Channing in 2005 but without Travis at CB in 2005 we'd have been in SERIOUS trouble.

I think in TD's case that Saban had more faith in him and his experience in Sabans system than he did in overall NFL experience.

Remember, last year(system wise) was a new experience to everyone but TD. He played the part of Rookie Player Coach most of the time.:D

I do know that, but regardless of his experience, it was only on the college level. He was never going up against NFL starters every day before he got to the Dolphins. CK backed me up a bit with his post(unintentionally I'm sure), so I don't need to defend my opinion anymore, lol.
