D-line:

Sacks - 9 sacks, rank 5

Run-stopping rankings:
Joey Porter - 1.37 YPC, rank 2
Vonnie Holliday - 3.35 YPC, rank 7
Jason Ferguson - 4.07 YPC, rank 14
Kendal Langford - 4.81 YPC, rank 22
Matt Roth - 1.55 YPC, rank 5
Overall - rank 9

These stats seem to make sense... the easiest place to run is against the rookie. Our d-line looks like a top-10 d-line. Pretty big improvement from #31 last year.

O-line:

Jake Long - 4.80 YPC, 19 rank
Justin Smiley - 3.91 YPC, 20 rank
Samson Satele - 3.88 YPC, 18 rank
Thomas/Ndukwe - 4.22 YPC, 18 rank
Vernon Carey - 3.79 YPC, 13 rank
Overall - rank 21

sacks allowed - 6, rank 14

We couldn't run the first two games... so these numbers look about right. The rankings are very balanced. It appears Jake Long is doing pretty darn good for a rookie. Looks like the real deal. The run-distribution stats are extremely balanced, meaning we hit every hole equally. There is no obvious crappy guy that we are avoiding his hole.

Certainly with the breakout in the last game, there is some hope that these numbers will continue to improve throughout the year. It is also somewhat predictable that with a new system and 3 new starters (plus Carey getting moved)... that we would have a slow start.

Also, 74 rushes is the 18th most in the league, a very average number, 25 carries per game.

Wide Receivers:
Camarillo - 58% catch rate, rank 36
Ginn - 57% catch rate, rank 74

5-9 passes:
Hagan - 50% catch rate, rank 7
Bess - 67% catch rate, rank 17

No 100 yard games yet, so it's not surprising about the low ranks. Also, we've kind of spread the ball around.

Tight-Ends:
Fasano - 92% catch rate, rank 1
Martin - 62% catch rate, rank 10

Fasano catches everything in front of him. A very impressive debute. Martin is playing better this year, but he's getting overshadowed.

In hindsight, it is pretty strange looking that against the Cardinals, we had 0 passes to Fasano. When you have a weapon like that, that was a mistake.

I'd can't wait to hear what KC Joyner has to say about Jake Long after bashing him in Weeks 1 and 2, more or less asserting that Long didn't seem to have what it took to be an elite left tackle.

On 7 plays in the last game, we used an unbalanced formation with:
LT - Smiley, LG - Satele, C - Ndukwe, RG - Carey, RT - Long

I guess this affects the stats a bit, but 7 plays out of 74 isn't that many. On one play, Ricky tripped on his own feet in the backfield for a loss. The other 6... we're happy about those.

The page also ranks the 34 QBs with 25 or more pass attempts. Chad ranks #11 (even with the poor game at Arizona). That is amazingly good considering he is learning a new offense, with new personnel, and with an average OL and average (at best) set of recievers.
