3 players Saban considered in the draft

was considering. Which 3 players do you think he was talking about?
My 3 : Brown, Edwards, and Smith

Those are the three. It was actually stated in one of the articles (Sun-sentinel, I believe).

That is the three. I actually think Saban had Smith at #1, Brown at #2 and Edwards at #3.

Why wouldn't he have considered the #1, #2, and #3 overall picks in the draft?

Saban specifically said they had narrowed it down to three guys in the apology to Edwards article on the cover page.

I actually expected Smith to do this bad with the Niners this year, since he doesn't have any talent around him. IMO, once they get themselves some players on offense, Smith should start to roll.

Didn't Saban spend a lot of time with Alex Smith prior to the draft? I thought he had at least one interview and a private workout with us. Why would he spend that much time with someone he was not interested in drafting? Especially, when he plays such a need position for us.
