Hi guys, after Thursday we will have played 3 preseason games in the span of 11 days. My question is.....what do we get from this? Football games are violent, preseason or not and to play 3 in 11 days seems to be a little over the top. From a preperation standpoint, the practice schedule has to be helter skelter and although we only gameplan for game 3 in the preseason it seems to me that having 4 practices between game 2 and 3 does not allow us to make a normal gameplan. Also, from an evaluation standpoint....can you really judge the rookies or fringe players properly? They are most likely beat up and sore. Just a question.

I agree.. a brutal preseason schedule.. I hope the impact doesn't linger into the season. I guess that's why the offseson conditioning program is so hard.

I wonder if this is how the management wanted it this year. They seem to be testing the knowledge of the players and throwing lots of information at them and seeing if they can handle it. Whether by design or not, I think they like it. It keeps em focused on the task at hand. I also think this is why they gave them some days off in July.

It's not like the starters are playing the whole game here like they would in the regular season.

You have 1st, 2nd and third teams splitting time in these games. And of course these preseason games look like they are going in slow-motion compared to regular season games, so these are not intense games by any means.

They can handle it just fine.

I like it. I think it gets the players into real game situations faster and it makes evaluating them easier. That is why you are seeing so many cuts coming so fast. It is allowing us to get our roster set earlier and it should lead to greater continuity.

Baptisim by fire.

It is definately a brutal schedule and think you have made a good point.
As far as evaluating rookies and fringe players, its just simply the best system we got. It has to be takin into account that no players are getting the gameplanning. So there is an argument that the evaluations are being judged on talent/instincts alone.

Then again it can go the complete other way without a game plan. Pennington would not be near the player he is due to the amount of preparation he brings to each game. A student of the game like Penny would definately be hampered by this rough and tumble schedule.

But, there definately is a fatigue factor for the players after going through August hell especially in the Miami heat. Plus this can definately seperate the men from the boys.

The most important question is....how many steers can Kirsti Alley consume in 11 days? Vegas over/under: 16.5

Good time to get the team ready for that same number of games going to be played in that same span of days when Miami plays on Thanksgiving Thursday against Carolina, which will be the game Miami ends the 3 games in 11 days.
