Short post but should be fun,
Who are 3 players realisticly that we need/could sign during the Free Agent period??
I say our 3 is:
1. Adalius Thomas
2. Chris Dielman
3. David Macklin

YOURS?????

1. Lance Briggs LB- I reallly think he wants to play In Miami And sees a great future!!

2. Kris Dielman- OL- cam Will lure him away!!

3. Eric Steinbach OL- Will anchor that Position for a long time!!

4- Kevin Curtis WR- Speedy and great hands will compliment CC, Booker will be gone or Wes will go!!

That is a realistic Fact With 4 Great FA!!

In The Draft We should draft Revis At CB or DT Alan branch!! id be happy!! the Ol will be great and open holes for Ronnie!!

RT- Vernon Carey
RG- L.J Shelton
C- Rex hadnot
LG- Eric Steinbach
LT- Kris Dielman

1. I just think Capers is goona fall in love with Adalius Thomas because of his ablility to play in the 3-4, he will exspress this to Mueller.
2. I think we trade down and Take Tedd Ginn.
3. Thats would be a sick o-line its gets me pupmed.....dont forget he will be opening up holes for Ricky also LOL

1. Donte' Stallworth (We want speed and he has it)
2. Kris Dielman (Knows Cam really well)
3. Nick Harper (Would serve for depth purposes)

no i said realistic

Being realistic. An expensive FA will cost Wayne Huizenga around $6-8mil upfront money and anywhere from $2-4mil a year salary/roster bonus combos.

So they will cost an average of $5mil a year.

So 3 expensive guys will cost $15mil against the cap a year as far as salary cap is concerned...but will cost Wayne about $23mil upfront!!! Ouch!!!

Plus, another $10mil upfront for a top ten pick! Is he "that" rich? Yes! Can he afford it? Yes!

Will he spend "that" much? No!!!

He may sign 2 expensive guys though...which will cost him $10mil a year against the cap and maybe $15mil upfront.

Maybe Steinbach or Dielman for LG and Thomas for OLB.

Briggs or Thomas + Steinbach or Dielman + Macklin or Harper.

Two high priced guys, and a lower tier.

Also, wouldn't mind Donte Stallworth if we're not planning on WR in the draft.

Imagine those guys with Stallworth, and Brady Quinn falling to #9?

This sounds more realistic...

Dont forget Kevin Curtis is a deep threat. Not a #1, but a deep threat #2. If we are not going Tedd Ginn Jr...which I believe we are...

Not likely to get any of the above

YOURS?????

The only guy realistically available is David Macklin, and he stinks. He was benched by the Cards earlier in the season. He's slow.

Adalius Thomas will be franchised by the Ravens, he's also 30-years old and expects a bonus payment of $10-12 mil.. If he were to hit the open market, Mike Nolan, his former coach with the Ravens would sign him in a minute. The Niners will be $40 mil. under the cap, and we couldn't compete financially.

Kris Dielman will not be available either. A.J. Smith has said Dielman re-signing with the Chargers is his top priority, and they have the cap room to do it. If not, both the Browns and Bills are expected to make big pushes.

As for others like Eric Steinbach, forget it, the Bengals plan on re-signing him. Asante Samuel will also not make it onto the open market. The Patriots will either sign him to an extension, or franchise his butt and make him play for the tender, or extort a package of draft picks for him. Samuel fits into Belicheck's plan for managing the cap, he can't be replaced, and he's young, which makes him the perfect candidate for a big-money payout. The Patriots' strategy is to build through the draft, sign free agents for depth, and pay only the players that are irreplacable.

It's not a good year for free agents. Everyone has the cash to pay their own guys. Nate Clements is the only guy likely to make it onto the open market, and do we really plan on paying a free agent DB $8 mil. per? Everyone talks about how Lance Briggs is heading out of Chicago, and maybe he is, I don't know why he's linked so extensively with the Dolphins. His skill set is not necessarily geared toward the 3-4. Bears' GM Jerry Angelo was also quoted as saying he told Briggs' agent that if a deal didn't get done, they'd probably franchise Briggs, so don't count on his availability either
