(according to the ESPN figures anyway) but from what I understand this has a lot to do with the way we’ve structured bonus money and a few other things that directly impact 2006 only if the CBA doesn’t go through…which isn’t necessarily the case for many of the teams that look so good right now compared to us because of the way they’ve structured their contracts. Assuming this really is the case, what I’m wondering is if the CBA goes though will we be more in the top/middle of the pack or still looking worse than the majority of the other NFL teams in relation to cap space? Obviously we’ll all have more money…but because of the way these accelerating bonuses etc. affect 2006, will we suddenly be better off than a lot of teams…if the CBA goes through?

We are near 10 milliion over the cap, including those incentives. Please go to the salary cap section next time when posting. You could have also added this to one of the million other posts about us being over the cap instead of posting a new thread of something that has already been talked about. Thanks.

Hey, relax there shooter. You are helping keep this on the front board by reaming his butt about where he should post. Maybe next time just ignore it and it will go away!

Hopefully the 10 million figure is more accurate than the ESPN figure of 21 million...but that is currently debatable. My question was related to how we'll look in comparison to other teams if the CBA goes through since right now ESPN has us as the 2nd to the worst team and presumably this is assuming no CBA. I haven't seen my specific question being discussed right now so I opened up a new thread. This seems to be where the majoity of the CBA threads are going so I posted it here.

yes sir capt mcree the guy had a legit ? and your answer was pretty calous like ouch dude................ next time just kick him when hes down!

Well, if you take ESPN's number of $21.9 million and subtract the $14.475 million we saved today by cutting Howard, Jones, McIntosh and Madison, and we are now about $7.4 million over the cap.

Tomorrow, Seau will most likely be released. That saves roughly $2.5 million. That would put us about $4.9 million over the cap.

With a new CBA we could have saved $6 million by restructuring JT's contract, but now we can only save around $1 million. That may or may not happen tomorrow.

There is a strong chance that Frerotte will be released and save us roughly $4.4 million. That would then put us about $500,000 over the cap.

As bad as it sounds, we may have to release Marty Booker. :( He would save us $3 million.

1) He posted in the wrong forum
2) There is another post about us being the 2nd worst team for the cap...which btw is already posted on the main board here: http://www.finheaven.com/boardvb2/showthread.php?t=127145 and also here where it's already been merged: http://www.finheaven.com/boardvb2/showthread.php?t=127063
3) As for the CBA that has to do with the cap so it should be posted in that forum here: http://www.finheaven.com/boardvb2/forumdisplay.php?f=57
4) Maybe he didn't know where to post, I'm not trying to be harsh, just explaining where he should post next time. Alot of people don't know where to post correctly so I'm just trying to help.

I notice that you yourself posted in the the "21.9 million over the cap thread" which is not in the cap forum: http://www.finheaven.com/boardvb2/showthread.php?t=127145

Yep. Clumpy and Cole from the Herald both agree that we were close to 10 million over the cap, not 21.9 over. I believe now with the cuts we should be close to 2 million under right now.
but I don't see you criticizing anyone there for posting in the wrong forum...or any of the other threads related to the cap that are in the main forum. Why single out me? :boohoo:  Anyway, the fact of the matter is that I thought about posting in the cap forum but noticed most of the CBA threads were going in here and that mods were participating in the discussions and not moving them...so I posted it in here thinking it was the appropriate place all things considered. My apologies if this was the wrong place.

yahoo sports said we are 9 million over, not 21 million over. I found it on the fantasy sports page.

I apologize if I was coming off as harsh, you are right that most of the CBA threads are on the Miami Dolphins page. CBA has to do with the cap mostly so it should be in the cap section. That's what I mean when people don't know where to post. It's not always clear. I've done it myself probably. I didn't mean to single you out and I am very sorry. I like alot of your posts and think you add alot of interesting ideas and comments to finheaven, keep up the good work. :D

No worries! :) And thanks for your kind words.

I think I should have probably worded my question differently anyway since it wasn't so much about the actual numbers as it is to how the cba seems to affect us more than others because of the way we structured some of our contracts (based on ESPN putting us at the bottom of the pack). I was mostly wondering if the cba goes through if this would suddenly improve our situation drastically in relation to other teams since now we wouldn't have to accelerate everything the way at least ESPN seems to be doing. Again it's was how this affects us in relation to other teams that didn't seem as affected by the CBA presumably because of the way they have done their contracts. Anyway, it's probably all irrelevant since the ESPN numbers are probably wrong.
