I didn't see this posted. I thought it was worth mentioning that we were 8 of 15 on third down conversions. Very very good considering the procedure penalties. I mean, over 50% is good anyway. It's outstanding considering the Dolphins troubles on 3rd down in the past.
Not to state the obvious, but if we can keep up that type of success, not only could we be a top 10 scoring offense, but that dominating defense will stay rested and we won't have to worry at all about those infamous 4th quarter collapses.

I thought it was great. And with everyone talking about the "new attitude" of coaching....I loved the fact that Saban went for it TWICE on 4th and inches....although one left Denver w/posession at the 50 with a min left in the half (guess he believed our D would hold them as they had been all half)...and the other 4th and inches we could have had a FG out of it but he instead opted to go for the gold. All the players were saying it gives them confidence to know their coach trusts them to get the job done....well he gave them the opportunities. And...Saban said he will continue to do so even if it doesn't pan out because he won't allow this team to settle back into a run, run, run, punt mentality.

Good point! When I was looking at the game book at NFL.com, I noticed it too. To me, that was a BIG factor towards our win and it's definately worth mentioning. Also worth a mention was Denver's 1-8 on 3rd downs (if I remember correctly). Our guys played some good football. They worked hard, and they have good reason to be proud today.

Not as impressive a stat as it could be...we were mediocre at best. Gus was throwing behind his guys all day, the OL struggled with opening holes and giving Gus time. They do need to correct the stupid penalties...I'd love to be a fly on the wall in those OL meetings...It was a pleasure, however, to see Linehan's game plan..it's great to have a real OC...he attacked every Denver weakness that was out there, and he actually adjusted the OL and protection scheme during the game...amazing...I didn't know you were allowed to do that, I thought it was illegal...(LOL, Wanny)...We will be better than last year, even if our record doesn't indicate that...

I was just thinking that, I saw a stat that we were 46% last year and 8/15 isnt that much of an improvment in my opinion. Personally I rather see it get down to something like 6/8 or something. ;)

Watching the game I commented that it was refreshing to see that Saban was still attacking with that lead. Wanny would have collapsed into a conservative shell early in the third. Why get conservative when your attack is still working?

Gus was very accurate on 3rd down passing. That is really all that we need for him to be.

Ahhh, remember the Glory days under JJ when he said that "Punting is a good thing"?
