Yeah I know, but it's late and I can't sleep so I dug this up. http://www.madduxsports.com/nfl-odds.php

According to this we are already a 4 pt road dog to the mighty Falcons. Guess we will get to see first hand who shoulda been coach of the year,

Also says the pats are 10pt favorites vs the bills.

Makes sense. Home team generally gets 3 points by default. So technically on a neutral field, Atlanta would be a 1 point favorite. I gotta think that Matt Ryan is worth that 1 point.

Pretty fair line I have to say.
You have to remember the purpose of lines is to induce betting. It is not a gauge of who the better team is. The amount of factors that go into this are crazy. This includes public opinion, which states that we are a team with a very hard schedule ready for a downfall, and that Matt Ryan should already be enshrined in Canton.

Old matty ryan is in for the sophmore slump this year. I'll bet the house on that. falcons 8 and 8

If he gets that team to 8-8 this year thats no slump

He is a good qb but i'm sure with a year under his belt defense's will be more prepared. Its the running game that make his job look so good. Miami will be prepared and ready to throw the house at him. Turner will not run on this defense. dolphins 24 to 17.

He's a pretty good young prospect, but I'm not ready to annoint him the next Manning or Brady.
Fact of the matter is that he had one of the top rushing offenses last season and that helped him greatly.
He was rarely forced to sit in a shotgun from 10-14 pts down to win a game with an opposing defense pinning their ears back and coming after him (unlike Marino).

How are the lines for week 1 posted...what about all the training camps and preseason games we play first?? Considering all the trades, signings or injuries that can occur in the next 2 1/2 months this is crazy

Should be an interesting game. If Chad Pennington succeeds in getting in sync with his receivers they could go to a spread passing attack and really go after the Falcons secondary depth (which is thin and small).

What I'm hoping will happen in the next couple of months is that Patrick Turner learns to keep his feet under him a little bit after the catch, and break some tackles. I'm also hoping that they experiment with Sean Smith as a WR on the offensive side of the football. This could be a key to taking advantage of Atlanta's small secondary.

Then if Jake Grove is all he's cracked up to be and Peria Jerry plays a little undisciplined (sort of like a rookie?), you can hit them up the middle with draw plays to Ronnie Brown where you hope to get Ronnie matched up with Curtis Lofton in space. Lofton has great instincts but he's a 4.8 kind of guy athletically and he will be at a disadvantage with Ronnie in space.

I think the preseason will be very vanilla. The Falcons are gonna be the first to get to defend this year's version on what Henning has come up with. Week one we will get to see some of what Pat White has to offer. I see our corners making some mistakes in the passing game....they are rookies, but they are agressive run stopping, good tacklers. So in my opinion the falcons are a really good team to start out with.
Also the players will be out to win the game to prove Tony should have gotten coach of the year!! I see us winning this one pretty easy 31-13.

I think in Week One they will minimize the presence of rookies in the secondary, going with Will Allen, Vontae Davis and Eric Green as the primary corners, and Tyrone Culver as the DB that comes in for dime packages.

Sean Smith is too inexperienced on defense to toss right into the action unless he has an absolutely tremendous preseason and training camp. But I think you could use him on offense because he has good hands, cuts sharply, comes back to the ball, and he is exciting with the ball in his hands after the catch.
