From Yahoo, Gregg Rosenthal...(can't figure out how to embed yahoo video, if you know how please do)
http://sports.yahoo.com/video/4-reasons-ryan-tannehill-elite-211240401.html

points made...
1. Currently inspires apathy
2. Things are about to to get better
3. Parker and Landry, Landry most catches in first two years....
4. Deep ball looked good with Parker onboard
5. "Sneaky" depth behind Landry and Parker
6. Oline should be much improved - Center and both tackles healthy
7. Tunsil should slide right into LG spot - Oline is a "good looking group"
8. Adam Gase has history of helping QB's - upgrade from Lazor, Philbin and "Mike Holmgren"???? Maybe i'm missing the connection, or he's on crack?
9. Tannehill does not make many mistakes - 6th among all active QB's in lowest INT %
10. Tannehill can be an exciting player, runs well, throws well on the move to either side.
11. He is a player like Dalton that will rise and fall with situation around him, and "the situation around him is so much better"

That's basically every point the video makes, it's a 2 minute long short.

Two comments. 1) That looks like more than 4 reasons. 2) I think Tannehill has been average since he was drafted. Some periods of above average and some below. I also don't think he's hit his ceiling. Maybe he can get to top 10. "Elite?" I have serious doubts but hope he proves me wrong.

Correct - I just listed every point the dude made for those finheaven members that cannot or do not feel like watching a video at the moment.

I pretty much agree with your assessment, but I'm probably more hopeful about the above average moments we've seen already becoming his baseline.

While I agree with Rosenthal of how things should unfold, the events that have transpired over the last 17yrs. leave me with the feeling that something unexpected will occur and totally throw a monkey wrench into our best laid plans. Oh yeah, Dallas Thomas is still somehow on this roster:err:

I don't know if he'll ever be elite, but I hope he's well above average.

I don't know about elite because I don't think there are that many of those guys in the history of the NFL. Maybe one or two in any given year.

I think he will be in the top 8 (elite 8) in the league in two years (or by the 2nd half of the 2017 season). Potential for top 5.

Most of the best guys playing right now won't even be around or will be in serious decline. It will be an entire new group of QB's. Marino played 17 years which is pretty uncommon and he was declining starting at the age of around 35.

2016 season:

Tom Brady 39
Drew Brees 37
Carson Palmer 36
Tony Romo 36
Eli Manning 35
Phillip Rivers 34
Ben Roethlisberger 34

Honestly no clue what is gonna happen. This is one where I just sit back and watch it unfold.

I just feel good that we've done a good job giving him the BEST chance to succeed with the offseason we've had. Still think we look into a veteran RB to boost that group but I have some good vibes for Ajayi. But coaching is there, Oline is pretty damn decent and there are playmakers at receiver and TE. Ryan should, in theory, have his best season in 2016.

This, first and foremost a coach who at first glance seems to understand the concept of mismatches and putting his players in situations where they can succeed. Only time will tell ...

in year five we need to be hanging our hat on the qb rack and worrying about other things. let's hope this happens

Does the video say "in 4 more seasons, 17 will be elite?" That's a long way out.

thill17 need start winning first because, he is unk in nfl right now.... my dolphins don't have top ten qb. if we did we would be in playoff.

Doesn't winning usually include the other ten guys on offense and the other 11 guys on defense?
