After long and careful consideration, here are the 4 things I believe about the 2006 Dolphins:

1) I believe the Dolphins entered an extremely tough situation for an opener in Pittsburgh against the defending Superbowl Champs, amplified by the excellent play of Charlie Batch, still, the Dolphins had a chance to put the Steelers to sleep with 6 minutes left. When you consider the rust and the injury recovery of Culpepper along with an O-line with new parts that was not cohesive yet, as well as a secondary that matched the latter and two new coordinators, to expect a win in Pittsburgh was bucking the odds.

2) I believe the Dolphins simply took for granted a win against Buffalo at home, they simply took them too lightly. The players talked about the lack of energy out there and it was obvious they were flat.

3) I believe all the changes made in key positions on this football team along with Culpeppers recovery made a fast start extremely improbable anyway. Yes I know we all expect it, but the reality is this team wasn't set up for a fast start.

4) I believe Nick Saban will right this ship, and the by the time this season is over, we will all feel very good about this football team and its future.

I agree with all points.... everything starts with Daunte. I wonder if Daunte's poor performaces have somehow affected the team psyche? i took from the game the lack of 'intensity' may be attributed to Daunte. The guys feed off one another...and i wonder if the team is as disappointed in daunte as the fans are.. even though they all say the right things.

(Here's number five)

5) We all have to pay taxes until we die....

No, seriously, nice post. I still think this team is very good, with some definite decisions needing to be made over the next few weeks to consider making a run at the playoffs; mainly, should Culpepper continue to start until 100% healthy. It's obvious something is not right with him. I really, really, want him to do well. But, if by the second half of the Titans game Culpepper still has not shown ANY improvement, I saw throw in Joey. Miami cannot afford one more loss and consider making a playoff run. Daunte lacks something. I cannot put a finger on it, but something is just not clicking for him right now. If I were Nick Saban (which I'm not, of course), I would not want to "wait and see" with Daunte if another loss is in order. I'm not calling for Joey, but if there's no decent change by the second half of the Titans game, I will be.

nice post.

yeah i mean it really fing sucks that they started off 0-2. and i agree 100% about how flat they looked in the home opener.

what is funny is...i look at some of the threads and posts on here and it like déjà vu again...only this time its a little earlier and that's because our expectations are much higher this season.

i remember last season during our skid a lot of people want Gus Ferrote out for missing receivers who were wide open and they wanted Scott Linehan out as well for some ??? play calling wanted Chris Chambers to be benched...than Saban stuck to his guns...he stuck to his plan...got the players to believe...called out Chambers and Chris responded with his 1 Pro Bowl appearance...and we went on to finish with 6 wins in a row.

Saban is a good coach...I'm not worried...I'm upset right now but not worried.

Go Fins!!!

I agree with everything you said, except #2. I would hope Saban has instilled enough philosophy into these player to realize you take nothing for granted, plus they have so many players with experience. I think the loss at Buffalo occured b/c both Buffalo is a better team than expected for now and your reason #3 carrying over to the Buffalo game.

I REALLY agree with your 3rd and 4th belief.

For your 3rd belief, I would agree b/c there are just too many new elements for this team to be clicking right now. New secondary, offensive coordinator, defensive coordinator, and Quarterback. A fast start would have been nice, but as shown thus far, just not likely. We have ourselves and the media to blame for expecting the 2001 Rams from the word go. Or as Saban said in his PC, everything thought it was going to just get easy b/c Daunte showed up, but it's not.

As for your 4th belief, my belief in Saban is the only thing that has prevented me from doing my usual dance and routine of a crappy week b/c of a pain in the pit of my stomach due to a Dolphin loss. We're 0-2 and I feel just fine b/c I truly believe Saban has the capability to right the ship. And to eventually get us to the top these next couple of years. Well my belief in Saban and Finheaven.com (b/c god knows what I'd do if I didn't have a place to spew my worthless thoughts and work out the pain of losing with people who actually are interested in the Phins :D ).

Great post by the way.

I sure hope this optimism is contagious!

Totally Agree

Look what happend last year when we were embarrased by the browns, i don't know what saban said or did, but they were a different team after. I'm sure things were said and done after this bs buffalo embarrasment. One point i would like to make about daunte, he seems so cool and sharp early in the game, but it seems he just cant get a nice play off when we absolutely need it the most, ie. end of pitt game, int to crowell in a must score situation. It just seems to me he doesn't respond well with extreme pressure. I stand by him, if he gets into a rythym, he will be a force, then fairweather fans will flood the board with daunte marriage proposals

you have to believe... that we'll beat the titans. At the moment, the dolphins appear not to care if they lose, the titans want to lose. trading volek away for a conditional 5th / 6th rounder, that's sick.

Kind of amazing, isn't it? Tennessee has one quarterback on their roster who is capable of starting a game as a legitimate NFL quarterback, and they trade him for a low second-day pick. Wow.

I should add that there are probably few people happier than Billy Volek right now. How would you like to be him? One day you're essentially third-string on one of the worst teams in football, and now you're probably going to be back-up for one of the hottest teams. Sounds good to me.

I totally agree with what you say, I am thinking that Culpepper will be alright with a little more practice and getting his timing down. The best medicine for Culpepper is the Titians, and the Texans. I think this will give him time to work on his timing we should win these games, with our running game alone. But if Culpepper can come around with his timing I think we will be alright. Also with 2 wins I believe that Culpepper will be more ready and confidence going into the Patriots game.

Also that Legitimatize Quarterback you mention had a 1.3 rating last week. And helped his team put up 15 yards for the first half.

I appreciate the optimistic outlook. Things may be going bad now but we need to maintain hope for the future. I do believe Saban has a good plan for developing the Dolphins into a consistantly winning football team. We all wanted it to happen this year. I still hope it does. But even if it takes a little longer I am going to be proud of this team.

Great post i believe also in the DOLPHINS and in her coaching staff
