Why do you draft three O linemen, and two running backs. And you have two top ten pick running backs... and you throw the ball 43 times and only run it 17. Please don't tell me that we were behind. We were back two scores in the third quarter... lots of football to play. The last two drives - yes obviously throw it all over. But the rest of the game. I couldn't belive how quickly we gave up on the running game. Were suppose to be a power running team. I'd love to see R&R get 20 carries each. Let Pennington throw it 20 times. That is the stat that jumps out to me the most. 17 carries... 17. ouch.

i get your point, we should of tried to run it more but it just wasn't working. The OL was the worst i've seen it in a looooonng time today.

Did you watch the Jets "D"... They were challenging us to throw down field... Coaching was actually good... Had we gotten the ball down the field a few times... it would have spread out the "D"... R&R would have banged them up and kept Favre sitting a little longer....

But none of that happen... Yet we almost pulled it off at the end.

Usually when a team stacks the box to take away the run (and were being very successful at it) and gives you the pass, the best way to get the run lanes back is to make them pay with the pass which Pennington was picking them apart in the second half. If we would have kept running with no success would you being posting that it was great that we didn't go away from it?
There's really only one situation you could question when we were at the goalline on 3rd down knowing we we're going for it a 4th down I'd rather have run it, but most will complain only because we didn't score. If we did your raving about the play calling, I am very happy with this team. We're finally headed in the right direction and there will be some bumps in the road, but it will be worth it in the long run.

I'm sorry, but 17 attemps is not 'trying to run the ball' one of those carries was Ginn on a end O' round.

We have a QB in camp for a month max, and unproven WRs and TEs. I expected R&R to pound it again and again... wear them down in the heat with they're dark jerseys. Ronnie had 6 carries. That's not enough.

Peyton Manning was behind all game and he threw it 49 times. They throw the ball all over. Only 6 more passes? Are we the colts?

The Jaguars and Titans each ran for over 30 carries... you don't think they were stacking the box. It's this lack of attitude why we threw it twice from the two yard line in the 4th. If R&R can't get two yards with our O-line in two tries then we really have problems.

The Jets had 7 men in the box the whole game, no way we were going to run the ball. They were not going to let us win by running the ball, we had to throw.

Okay..if you say so...

I would have loved to see R&R run all over the lousy Jets, but I don't agree... When the D plays up on you like that you have to open them up and we didn't cause our receivers are not good at running routes and our QB is not accurate down field...

Had that jump ball been caught by Ginn this would not be an issue.... The problem is not having good WR's....We fix that problem and R&R will be the best 1-2 in the league.

you do know that 7 men is a normal base defense right? that only leaves 2 cbs and 2 safetys. lol.....

No you don't get it... It's not throwing is bad. it's a 43 to 17 ratio that's bad. It's not as if we were back by 20 points. it wasn't until late in the third that we fell behind by two scores. I don't like the power game, I like stretching the feild. But were built to power it, and we didn't really try. 16 carries is not enough for R&R. If R&R are our best offensive players give it to them, toss in they're handful of catches and 20 touches combined is not enough for our best players. If your a hockey team you put your best player on the ice as often as possible, if your the chargers you give it to LT, if your the lakers you give it to Kobe.

Dude... I do get it... I think you don't I agree it would have been nice but part of the game is to read the D and play off of that. When they are stacked like that, unless our OL is dominating, you pass to open up the possibility.

I get that you wanted them to try more but it wasn't working...

Ricky was averaging 2.4 yrds
Ronnie was 3.8 yrds

our longest run was 7 yrds...

Yes, that was exactly the reason, because we were down 2 scores. You don't run the ball and run the clock out on yourself when you are down 2 scores, you throw it. Common sense, really.

This is pretty easy to answer really. Our O-Line couldn't run block at all. The jets kept 8 men in the box daring us to pass. As far as I'm concerned did Penny not rip them apart throwing the ball in the 4th quarter? That pass to Ginn was not a very wise decision though. Oh well, 1st game of the season, Brady is done, you never know. This division is up in the air now.
