4th round DE to look at!

Projected Round: 4.
Nick Hayden's 34 reps of 225 pounds could provoke a team to draft him late in the third round. Hayden produced 5.5 sacks as a senior.

He is listed as a DT but would play DE for us. He benched 225 34 times. WOW.
I would consider him. What do you think?

his vert. is worrying me..27 is not that good, and that is a great indicator of explosion (here, you're talking about a lack of it lol..) he surely has a great shape and upper body strenght, would love to see tape of him but i guess theres not a lot of it available .... how do you know this guy ?

ya i think he could be someone to look at in the 4th. He would play DE for us and we dont have much depth there. we have holliday, Starks, Roth (too small) Moses (too small)....thats about it. there might be a few others but thats pretty much it.

4th round is a crap shoot...every player at that point has a higher chance to wash out...

He's got a shot. Parcells likes to take a chance on defensive linemen in the middle rounds. My guess is that he's more likely to take someone like Red Bryant or Frank Okam if they fall, but Hayden's probably in the discussion somewhere in the middle rounds.

Almost no front offices will admit it, but most of the time they target a smallish group of positions for each round and they try to work their draft so that they get one of each position they need, but usually don't double-up on a position unless there's a huge need--like us at OL and CB. So if the other guys are gone and he's available in the 4th-5th area, we might grab him. Currently I don't think we have a 5th rounder but I have a sneaking suspicion we'll be doing multiple moves before the draft and eventually get a 5th rounder.
