I thought I would do a brief write up on 5 prospects I could see Miami drafting at #19. I think ultimately they will draft one of these players, who depends on how FA goes. I will also list their # ranking from my new Top 32 Big Board in the draft forum, and list them by highest rated player, not most likely to be drafted.
#3 Darqueze Dennard CB Michigan State
Physical press corner, younger brother of Patriots CB Alfonzo Dennard. May be knocked in the pre-draft procces because he may not run a 4.4, but shows plenty of recovery speed on tape. Outstanding ball skills. He is comfortable in off-man and in zone, but if the Dolphins do not target him, it will be because they want to strictly run a zone scheme. Compares to Darrelle Revis, and has All-Pro potential.
#9 Calvin Pryor FS Louisville
Rare safety who can play in the box, and center field. Big hitter with good instincts and ball skills. Has the size and range you look for in a safety. If the Dolphins do not re-sign Clemons they could look to draft Pryor at #19. If you haven’t already check out his game vs Rutgers. Compares to Dashon Goldson without the penalties.
#12 Eric Ebron TE North Carolina
Matchup nightmare. Willing blocker. Has the ability to flexout or play tradition Y role. Huge game against Miami this year. Playmaker after the catch. Grades as a good blocker for a receiving tight end. At his best making touch catches in traffic. Pro Bowl caliber Tight End Compares to Julius Thomas but much more physical blocking in the run game, and run after catch.
#13 Taylor Lewan OT Michigan
Some may knock him for his feet, but he makes up for with his his length and base. May be suited better for the right side. Gets movement in the run game. Nasty olineman with the mean streak you look for. Gets in trouble when he over extends. Could be a top 10 Offensive Tackle in the league in a few years. Compares to a less athletic Jake Long.
# 19 Zack Martin OG Notre Dame
Plays LT for Notre Dame but projects to LG in the NFL. Has the feet and base to be an excellent interior pass protector at the next level.Gets to the 2[SUP]nd[/SUP] level well. Has the nastiness you look for in a guard, and is very intelligent on blitzes, stunts, and slants. Looks to be a Pro Bowl guard. Compares to a poor man’s Evan Mathis.
