No no no...I didn't come up with 501 ways. I thought in this time between the signing of Jake Long, the draft and training camp in July, everyone could explain all the different ways the Phins could improve. 101 sounded too condensed and 1001 sounded too broad. Let the list begin starting with what I think has killed the team over the past couple years:

1. Consistent coaching (overall) - Without consistent coaching from the head coach all the way down to the assistant special teams, a team can not act as a cohesive unit to win games. There are many examples over the past couple years (Wannstadt, Coach to remain nameless, and Cam) that the lack of experience or common sense during game situations has baffled Phin Nation.

Game management by coaching staff...Cam was like a ninconpoop out there...never seen anything like it.... Little Nick was poor there as well and highlighted by his inability to throw the red flag...DW was better than those two but not too good in that area either.

2. consistent offensive personnel
3. consistent defensive personnel
4. quality depth
5. find offensive playmakers
6. find defensive playmakers
7. draft core players
8. draft quality players

I know we've had good positional coaches in the past, but how come so few of our players developed under them? Seems to me we drafted guys and they either started right away, or inherited their position because the guy in front of them got hurt, retired, or left in FA. Where was the player development?

For some reason, I just have the feeling that player development is a priority with this regime, and our players will actually get better in our system. If I don't see improvement in this area than it will just seem like business as usual with our team.

Simple, too many head coaches. Every coach has a different way of doing things which mean the players have to learn a different way of doing things. Everything from what is expected of them to how to practice to learning different techniques.
Ronnie Brown is one example. Saban didn't ask as much of R.B. as Cameron did and we saw the results of that last year.

i know they cant do anything to prevent this but just staying healthy is one of the mian things for me. I dont think we would have been 1 and 15 last year if we didnt have all those injuries.

Speaking of player development and finding playmakers

11. (Hopefully we already have someone on staff or if not) find someone who can correctly evaluate talent translating from college to the pros. Jeez, how many times have we looked at someone who was drafted by us and go "Who???" or "Why was he picked there for???" I'd like to say Parcells hired someone who is doing a great job but we won't find out for another couple years.

12. Stop trading away draft picks (good ones no less!) for might be/has been/injured players. Teams are made through the draft... something this team forgot every year since selling the farm for Ricky.

Ricky Williams
A.J. Feely
D. Culpepper
T. Green

I may not be exactly right here, but in 6 years, we've thrown away something like:
2 Firsts
2 Seconds
1 Third
1 Fifth (basically a 4th)

Ricky did have 2 great years, but we never made the post season... so that's not worth a whole lot.

I'd agree 200%.

A.J. Feeley for a second? What was Speilman thinking....seriously? Feeley only works in a WCO where he achieves and only a couple other teams would actually work for him. Sadly that is the past and we are looking toward a wonderful future with a new LT to anchor our line.

Yea even if feeley works it was an awful trade. every Gm we have had have just wasted picks like they had no value.
