The NFL season is nearing an end, and if we aren't a playoff team, we will have seen about 52 hours of football. That's less than most other sports teams play in one month. As football fans we see less of our great sport than any other fan. So what am I getting at?

Issue number one: This issue comes up every year, but I firmly believe we need to take two preseason games and turn them into regular season games. 4 preseason games is nuts??? What are the coaches really gonna learn out of those two extras?

Issue number two: This may sound bad but it pisses me off that the NFL wants to go global. I can understand any other sport, but a fan of his home team only gets to see his team at home 8 freaking times a year. You wanna make it seven????? I think it sucks. 52 hours of football just isn't enough. There are 5 Dolphins games left, and I am feeling like I am itching for more. Also, I don't understand why they wanna go global anyways, football just isn't catching on outside the US.

How would you feel if a Dolphins home game got moved to Australia or something??

cut down the preseason games, dont add any to the season. save the players for when it counts, and get better broadcast rights if you want to go global dang nabbit

Well I'm from the UK, and I live and breathe football.

You say it's not catching on? What do you know?

For those of us that play over here it's a year long thing and it's completely life consuming, get a clue before you make stupid comments

i think 4 is too little, they should add more....remember pre-season is where the coach finds out who starts, puts together 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th teams...i think there should be extra pre-season games so that once the coach puts together his official 1st team, he can play them more and fix their mistakes before the actual season.

I think that the other sports are worse. 82 basketball games are too many, too boring. The fact that you can only see 16 games add value to a football game

if a dolphins home game got moved to australia that would be absolutely ****ing unreal, i would be the first person to buy tickets to the game. i rekon that it is good that the NFL is trying to go global as it spreads the sport and creates bigger markets. of course i live in australia and i dont know where you got the notion that it isnt catching on outside the US but it is absolutely wrong, one of the ways that they will increase its popularity outside the US is by playing more games outside of the US which may be a little unsettling for most of you american fans seeing games move overseas but i guarantee you that we will see more games moved overseas in the next few seasons. more fans means more money as well for the NFL which is a huge insentive for the owners etc to expand the game. i went to the game that was played out here a number of years ago between denver and san diego and know many others who went to the game and everyone enjoyed the game and was excited to be able to see the NFL down here.

Speaking as another UK fan I have to say again speak for yourself.

Globalisation is simply about money - there is a finite amount that the NFL can get out of the domestic market (even with a couple of extra games).

The players want more money every year - the teams want to make more money and it has to come from somewhere. So the NFL is looking to develop new markets, it makes perfect sense - it takes a while to build something like that so the NFL is starting in good time.

We just don't have the grassroots infrastructure that you guys have with the college system. In the UK we have a small number of university teams that introduce people to the game at age 18 or 19. There is a growing youth league but it's tiny.

Germany is a bit better off and there are developments in other places - but since its about sucking monay out of other markets there is no real investment in developing anything solid. In fairness the money required to build a similar system anywhere else would be colossal and I suspect the effort would be unpopular.

The cost of starting a new franchise is put at around $1 billion and I'm sure that new clubs will be added at some point but the personnel attrition rate in football is always going to limit how much of it can be played in a season.

There are some good scholarships on offer for kids to go to the states and play football (my 14 year-old wants to do it) with the hope that 'national players' will drive interest. I remain to be convinced.

The regular season should be 18 games a season and your right about the global games just let the teams play the games in the U.S. and let the fans enjoy the very few home games that they get every year.

i dont get it what's 52 hours ???
That is the amount of time we have got to see Miami play this year so far.

football isint catching outside the us thats not true i was born in miami but i live in latin america and there is plenty of football fans here alot of phin fans that have been fans of since the dan marino
years. if there are fans here in other parts like uk or australia there should
be even more fans.

You can't have the season longer. This is the most physical sport in the World. Guys are out there killing each other. If you added more games, more players would get hurt and the quality of play in the playoffs would suffer.

Keep it EXACTLY the way it is right now.
