1. Tannehill is on the brink of proving many he deserved tobe picked #8, if not higher. Ryan has the intelligence and tools to be a verygood QB, give him just a little time, and he will succeed. The one thing amongmany improvements this year with Tannehill, he has shown to be a leader, on thefield has been vocal, whether yelling, or talking players on the offense, butwhen interviewed, he continues to blame himself on the failures between Wallaceand himself, those are traits of quality QBs.

2. This O-line will be better then last year, then againconsidering the disaster that was the Miami Dolphins O-line last year, thatreally is not say much, but I truly think this Miami O-line will be good whether it bemid-season or late in the season. I expect growing pains, and everyone gettingin sync with each out, and losing Pouncey will not help, but this line willgrow to be a good line.

3. I might be wrong, and I really do hope I am, but Miami might now have adependable RB this year. As good as Miller has looked in camp, he is not astarting RB, Thomas is just too inconsistent, and Moreno is not the answer unfortunately. Miamineeds to get a RB that can consistently get positive yardage, rarely get caught in the backfield, and when a crucial3[SUP]rd[/SUP]/4[SUP]th[/SUP] and short or goal-line comes up, NAIL IT. Don’tknow if that RB is on the team right now…and I’m a huge Miller fan.

4. Losing Jordanfor 4 weeks is not going to help the team, but it really will not hurt theDolphins as much as it would other teams. Miamiis loaded at DE, Jordan wasnot going to start over Wake and Vernon, Miami will have Shelby, who seems to have picked up even more this off-season, and will not get abetter chance to look at & display Terrence Fede who also looks to be avery good player. Those that say Miami will miss the way he was able to controlGronk, well 1[SUP]st[/SUP] off, there is still no guarantee that he will beable to play in the 1[SUP]st[/SUP] game (No matter what continue to come out ofPatriots land, in fact. I generally believe the opposite of what I hear fromPats land), and #2 I doubt very much we were going to see Jordan on Gronk much if at all this year anyway had he not been suspended.

5. I believe Jarvis Landry is going to be special, and if Iwas Hartline and Wallace, I would try extremely hard to have a career year, because eventually Landry will become the premier receiver, leaving Wallace andHartline to prove who deserves #2 status more then the other. I could write anentire page on what I like about Landry, and why I believe he will be special, but I will just say how great he is running those routes, how tough he playsgoing for the ball, and having those huge mitts to make sure few of thosepasses end up any other place but in his possession are more then enough fornow to tell everyone this kid will succeed.

6. Finally I like many things I have seen from coach Lazor thisoff season, but until I see how he reacts in battle, and how he is able to continuallyput this offense, and Tannehill in positions to succeed, rather then fail, likethe last few OC, I will try to hold off in claiming he is among the top OC inthe league.

Is this based off of watching on TV or did you get to watch mini camp?

Just details from reporters, coaches, and what players have been saying. Plenty of film on many of these players.

(a) If our linebackers can make some improvement, then our Defense should be very competitive (our D-line and DBs are decent). We really need Koa Misi to step up as the mike LB and I don't know if he's fast and agile enough. Ellerbe should make progress this year.
(b) The departure of Mike Sherman means that there is finally scope for some more creative playcalling. Some close games were lost partly due to horrible predictable playcalling (eg Buffalo in Miami, Tampa Bay, Baltimore). Philbin's biggest blind spot was Mike Sherman.

I I agree with pretty much all your points but about number one I'd like to say that you can definitely tell tannehill has stepped into a leadership role. Based off what we've heard from mini camps he's become more vocal on the field. Based on interviews you can definitely tell he's an intelligent guy and he has mentioned accountability on numerous occasions. He knows this year he has to prove it. He knows his game needs to be taken to the next level. He has said it. He sounds excited when he talks about lazors offense whenever he gets asked about it. He and we all know Sherman was trash and you can just tell he feels more confident. Tannehill is a hard worker and we have all seen improvement in areas where he needed it from year one to year two, and hopefully we see further improvement in year three.

I'm not a kneejerk reaction kind of guy, I understand some guys take longer to develop than others and the fact that tannehill has improved from year to year is encouraging to me that he is our franchise guy. He has all the tools to be the franchise guy he just needs to put it all together.

Agreed, and extremely good point. Miami will need better LB play, consider how undersized they will be in the middle with Soliai departed. The big drawback with the way Miami's defense is constructed will be against the run, that is where the will need to cross our fingers and hope Misi can workout at M-LB.

That should help, can't tell you how many time Miami was driving, fell on 3rd and short, and decided to pass. I love it when a team is aggressive and tries to catch a defense sleeping, but he continued to do it, and never fooled anyone, while leaving easy 1st downs on the field. There were so many aspects to Sherman that were so predictable, it's amazing Tannehill was able to have any kind of success.

It will be exciting this year to see how big a step he takes. Even though I know without Pouncey, and the little time all these guys on the line have played with each other, there will be growing pains and mistakes, but I hope they don't fail enough to get Tannehill killed before Pouncey gets back, and they are all able to get used to each other.

Copying and pasting from (I'm guessing) a text document has every few words connected together. It's really distracting from your points. A quick edit, or just writing the article in the browser, would solve that.

I can't see anything that makes me think #2 is anything other than wishful thinking. Our backups from a year ago will be this years starters, when they couldn't even get on the field last year. Losing Pouncey for at least the first 4 games plus still looking at a possible suspension means we might lose him for close to half the season. That means the entire interior of our OL will be backup caliber talent. If Turner can't create a miracle an get up to speed much faster than he should be able to, that will mean either Shelley (who is straight up garbage) or the guy we just signed will be starting at RG.

The center 3 positions will be the worst in the league until Pouncey gets back. And considering that we will be running a lot out of shotgun with a new center doesn't make me confident we won't have a lot of bad snaps from whoever it is who wins the center position.

On the outside Albert will be a huge upgrade, and James will probably have about the same type of year Clabo had last year, which is to say he will start off struggling and end the season pretty well. But he was not on the level of the other top OTs for a reason. Speed rushers will have their way with him early in the season, and he isn't a great run blocker. He was a 2nd rd talent. I expect his ceiling to be some where around what we had in Vernon Carey.

So overall I can't see how anyone not wearing aqua shades could POSSIBLY think our OL improved in the offseason. Let me re-state that. I don't see any way anyone not wearing aqua shades could say our OL didn't take a significant step BACKWARDS this offseason. Benton got ran out of his last job, and though he has had some good years he doesn't walk on water. I will believe it when I see it from this group. They have a chance to be average down the road a few years, but this year's OL play is going to make us look back at last year as the "good ol days". It has a chance to be beyond ugly.

Agreed, our OL is quite a concern and it will be a miracle if Tan has time or we open up holes for LM. It will be problamatic.

The key to the team's performance this season is the O-line. After last year's debacle, why you think that it has gone backwards. A ZBS has been the goal since Philbin and Sherman arrived but we have lacked the correct personnel to successfully implement it. Jim Turner was replaced as O-line Coach by Benton and that is probably a significant upgrade having someone with actual NFL O-line coaching experience who was reliant on being related to Sherman to get the job. New players have been found in the Draft and Free Agency. Some will succeed and some will fail, but they appear to be high character guys and that is a big step forward after last season. I think that you are being extremely pessimistic to refer to last season as the good old days. Let's see what we have before slashing your wrists. Sometimes progress is made when you least expect it.

I try not to even think about our OL this season, it is so depressing. I would we had 8 preseason games this year, lol. Really, I hope to see all of them because almost the whole group is new. The only upside is that they are all young and will improve. I can't hope for greatness and I pray it is not worse then last year. i hope it will fall somewhere in the middle.

I think a poor OL can eat at a team. RBs feel like they can't find any holes. QB feels like he is going to be on the run and WRs are mad because the QB has little time to find them.

I think I'm going to lay down and put the covers over my head for a while.....................

I don't believe we will know whether we are better or worse on the O-line until it all plays out.

Any suggestions that we went forwards or backwards is premature.

My gut feeling is we will be improved, based on Albert(huge upgrade...I believe the guard play will end up better than the garbage we had last year...Pouncey will eventually be back and solidify...and James can't help but be better that Clabo. James played his entire career at UT at RT, Carey did not as at UM.

I am praying we find a decent Vet OL in cuts that is better than the guys we have at this moment.

The line that allowed the franchise record in sacks will be the "good ole days"? Very doubtful. Albert and James will be significant upgrades at tackle. The guards last year were back-ups and a plodders that didn't fit the scheme. I can't see how these guys can be much worse, at least they can run the ZBS. Also, Benton is a big upgrade on Turner no matter how he left Houston.
Will they be good enough? It remains to be seen, but no one is going to be wishing for the 2013 O-line, I'm sure of that.
