7-play Highlight Reel Of The Unsung Hero From The Jets Game, Davon Godchaux. This Guy Is A Force!

I for one have been flaming people on here because of what used to be their "unfounded" hype for this guy... well it looks like we are finding out why they were hyping him. I am happy to eat crow about this guy, hopefully he keeps it up, but I definitely have been impressed with his jump this year to a serious contributor on defense.

Great job! I knew he flashed a few times Sunday, but I did not realize what a dominant performance he actually had..especially when he was in for only half the plays (34 snaps/52% per Hyde at Sentinel)

That was great watching that. Thanks for sharing. In some of those plays I saw RM getting blocked pretty bad. I hope he starts to play better cause you can't expect the D-line to make all the plays.

I'd say this kid could be the one growing exponentially and not Charles Harris.

Here's an interesting tidbit from when the Miami Dolphins interviewed him at the NFL combine and ultimately may have been why they drafted him:

It’s the only Combine interview Gase can recall in detail.

“I remember being shocked,” Gase said. “We were showing him tape and we weren’t even hitting play yet and he says, ‘Here’s what happened.’ He’d go through everything. ‘I screwed up here. I should’ve been (doing this)’

“I just remember Terrell saying, ‘How do you know what play this is?’ He was like. ‘This is all I do.’
I just remember being floored by that because he was so football—That’s all it was. That’s all he was about.”

Great vid Anthony. What a force! That one-handed takedown was very Suh-like.

Makes getting rid of Suh seem like a no-brainer. As good as he was, the freelancing and the fact he was playing almost 100% of snaps were both suboptimal.

It’s still early but I have to give a lot of credit to Burke and Kocurek. The rotation of the D-line, the development of the young guys, and overall strong play of the front 7 are all unexpected and impressive. Keep it up!

Sometimes all you have to do is look at a guy and you knows he good. Dudes built like a cinder block.

Great stuff, Anthony. I really appreciate it.

We have nailed some fifth round picks in recent years.

Does anyone recall why Godchaux fell to the fifth? I think he had ratings above that. He seems more like a day two level talent.

When I saw the scouting report after we drafted him the so called experts had him as a guy that will be a practice squad body and career back up at best.

Great perspective and thanks for posting. He does jump off the screen when you're watching and originally I was like who is this guy then I realized it was Godchaux. Fantastic pick up.
