I hate how the analysts keep on bashing our 72'Phins. We have had a history like no other team. We went to the postseason 28 out of 30 years in the 70's, 80's and through the 90's. Why? Because we had Griese and Marino. What did they have in common? They were both first round picks. Why did we draft QB's that early? Because our QB situation was uncertain. the year before Greise, we drafted a QB with the number one over-all pick, nobody remembers that anymore though. I've been on the forums a lot as of late and I agree with what Phins Rock has been saying...we need to draft Matt Ryan...(hence the user-name.)

A lot of people say that he is not worth the number one pick, but can you really put a price-tag on a great QB. On a franchise QB? No you can't. QB's like Bob Griese and Dan Marino are priceless. I think whenever your QB situation is uncertain, and you are as bad a team as the Dolphins are, the best QB prospect is always worth the number one pick. And when it comes down to it, it's the team that has that pick that puts the value on a player, not the analysts, or the fans.

Griese in the 70's, Marino in the 80's and 90's, Ryan in the 2010's????

Sure... Let's draft a QB with the first overall pick that has just as many if not more question marks than our 2nd round pick from last year...

Makes perfect sense...

I dunno. I hate it. I just want another Marino. Or someone witht he same desire to win as Marino.

How does he have more Question marks then Beck does????

Picking QB's in the first round doesnt mean they will for sure be the QB of the future. Ask the Chargers about Ryan Leaf. The Falcons about Mike Vick. The Browns about Tim Couch. I could go on.

If you want to make a point as to why Matt Ryan is good. Ill read that. But this post is nothing but spam.

Beck has desire, I am pretty sure of that

I think we should think about Henne or Flacco, give Beck some competition

Matt Ryan had a lower completion %. More INTS. Less touchdowns and a lower completion percentage. Lots of question marks which is why very few people think Ryan is worthy of the first overall pick.

Some would debate that Brian Brohm might even be a better pro prospect. If he would have came out last season he would have given Jamarcus a run at being the first overal pick. His team struggled alot during his senior year hurting his draft status. A lot like Dan Marino. If you wanted to make an arguement for us drafting Brian Brohm as our next Marino you could make a better comparison. Both had very similar collegate careers.

Sure, I'll rehash it again:

(Mind you this is going by their senior year stats in college.)

1. Lower accuracy by a long shot. (59.3% to 69.3%)
2. Slightly less YPG in his college years. (322 YPG to 324 YPG)
3. Slightly less TDs/game in his college years. (2.2 to 2.4)
4. More INTs in his college years by a long shot. (1.4/G to .7/G)

Definitely enough question marks to bypass him and go with a position where we need more help.

BTW, I'm not saying that these stats tell the whole story by a long shot... I'm just saying that using the #1 overall to pick up a QB with arguably worse stats than Beck coming out of college would be stupid. He may have better intangibles, but since they by definition can't be measured, it's not worth the risk.

Do numbers count? Hell no they don't.....of you've seen Ryan play, and I've seen every one of his games, he is going to make a great NFL QB. That's what he is, and NFL type QB.
