I hate how the analysts keep on bashing our 72'Phins. We have had a history like no other team. We went to the postseason 28 out of 30 years in the 70's, 80's and through the 90's. Why? Because we had Griese and Marino. What did they have in common? They were both first round picks. Why did we draft QB's that early? Because our QB situation was uncertain. the year before Greise, we drafted a QB with the number one over-all pick, nobody remembers that anymore though. I've been on the forums a lot as of late and I agree with what Phins Rock has been saying...we need to draft Matt Ryan...(hence the user-name.)
A lot of people say that he is not worth the number one pick, but can you really put a price-tag on a great QB. On a franchise QB? No you can't. QB's like Bob Griese and Dan Marino are priceless. I think whenever your QB situation is uncertain, and you are as bad a team as the Dolphins are, the best QB prospect is always worth the number one pick. And when it comes down to it, it's the team that has that pick that puts the value on a player, not the analysts, or the fans.
Griese in the 70's, Marino in the 80's and 90's, Ryan in the 2010's????
