Looks like Nick Saban made the infamous S.I. Who`s Not list in the current College Football Preview issue I received today.

Quote: Man`s man Dolphins coach made DT Manny Wright cry in last years camp. Now, saying he won`t tolerate "any of this stuff," he`s refusing a waiver request from Wright, who says he`s being treated for depression.

Must be a slow news week for S.I. if that warrants being named to the list.

Um, if by not giving into ridiculous demands makes him not a man, then I'm glad Coach Saban is not a man.

You know, the media is rediculous. You'll hear them go on and on about how Saban says he won't let him go, but what you won't hear them say is how Wrights agent has said Saban and the Dolphins have bent over backwards and gone out of their way to help Wright.

I'd say the fins get far more love then hate, I can live with a bad report or two.

If the Phins get love from a national media outlet it's alright, if they don't then obviously the media has no idea what they're talking about according to fans. SI did run a pretty good piece on Saban a few weeks ago that applauded him for the direction he has the Phins in which is alright but if they criticize it's not?

I think it's more the subject of their criticism. Attempting to help Manny Wright, thereby salvaging a player with good potential, is somehow a bad thing?

... or that Manny's family has advised him to return to the team.

Something just hit me... this is the first negative news in the media about the Dolphins this entire offseason. We always get love and it's akward seeing us finally take a little heat.

Sports Illustrated? The same magazine that said John Avery would have a bigger impact in the NFL than any other running back in the 1998 draft class? S.I. is a dinosaur and I really could care less what they have to say, whether it's pro Dolphin or anti Dolphin.

Well writing is the opinion of the journalist not the company and/or magazine

So I have no problem with SI publishing totally different reports. So if your saying that they should be able to criticize openly I agree

hmm, i thought this would be related to saban's meltdown on the media earlier this week. i figured he'd be praised for not letting a player dictate his future.

im suprised we havent seen more reports like this you know the media has to hate coach sab. He refuses to answer alot of their question and blows up on them twice a week. We schould prolly consider ourselves lucky the criticism isnt worse lol

And I'm sure you've never made a bold statement that was totally off-base before.

Why does everyone expect the media to be perfect? Especially for the local media, you all think they blow stories up way too big and they never compliment enough. Well, they have a job that requires putting every little thing under a microscope, and, to be honest, they have to deal with a guy who won't give them the information they need to keep their job and who verbally abuses them when they try to find another source for the information. Saban is a great coach, but the clips I've heard from him talking to the media make him sound like a condescending jerk. I hope that's a hasty generalization from too small of a sample size, but the press reserves the right to criticize. And if anyone in professional sports doesn't like it, go sign a contract with Springfield of the SDGEGADGHFL and you won't have to worry about it.
