8 million per year for Alex Smith?

the 49ers were giving him a 3 year deal worth 8-9 a year...

And he turned that down...

I hope that story's not true...I'd rather have Moore and you all know how I think Moore is just an average QB....

I think Alex Smith is a solid QB, but for that price we might as well stick with Moore for another year. He's a lot cheaper and almost as good.

How does this guy in Denver know?

And if true, it shows that Ross and Ireland are in desperation mode...After losing Flynn...

Not sure I buy this article, but it would be roughly the same(maybe a little less) than what Flynn just got.

Flynn got 3 years, $26 million. Smith would get 3 years, $24 million.

At this point just tank yet another season and draft Barkley. Wouldn't it be great if we had #1 pick next year and Barkley said he didn't want to play here. lol.

Flynn got just under that and he was a backup.

At this point, I have to believe that if Philbin thought Matt Flynn was a franchise QB, he would have never left Miami without a contract. Smith is not the answer either, though. I would just as soon keep Moore and draft Tannehill or Weeden than to commit $8 million a year to Smith. He is marginally better than Moore and costs a whole lot more. He is familiar with the WCO but who knows if Philbin/Sherman's version and Harbaugh's version are the same.

Flynns contract called for 10 million guaranteed

Id be very surprised if the Fin's FO paid Smith's asking price. It'd have to be a $30M deal.

yeah i mean this is not a deal where you say goodbye next year. Look at the Bills. They killed themselves IMO when he got bank and as soon as he got it, he tanked.

So if we weren't willing to give Flynn his 19 mil with incentives for 3 years, why would we give Smith a 3yr/24+mil contract? I'm not buying this.
