As I watch Matty Ice throw his 4th touchdown of the night, I can't help but think what might have been if that idiot Bill Parcells had not started running (ruining) the franchise 8 years ago. What started with a huge mistake (Long over Ice), snowballed into an avalanche of stupidity. Mr. Field Goal Fistpump, the short career of Mr. Long, the GM from hell he picked as successor and all of the colossal mistakes he made. Damn, could he have screwed this franchise any more had he tried??

We passed on Aaron Rodgers and people still obsess over Matt Ryan. :bobdole:

Tho this fan base would probably have run Rodgers out of town if he didnt start the first preseason game :idk:

I'd rather have Matty Ice at this point. Rodgers has been heading downhill for two years. And my post wasn't as much about Ryan as it was about the string of errors by Parcells and his hand picked successor that have doomed this franchise due to lack of talent. We are just starting to wake up from the Parcells nightmare.

Until the last few weeks Ryan has been under pressure for mutkiple seasons. Rodgers has had a bad month.

One is a good qb, one is the best player in the NFL.

You are trying to change this discussion into an Aaron Rogers vs Matt Ryan pissing contest, in a lame attempt to look smart. It wasn't about that.

I thought Jake Long was a future HOF barring injury. He got injured and played through it for Sparano even when we had no chance of making playoffs. IMO that's a bigger injustice. I'll always be a fan of Big Jake

Parcells came here and breathed life into the franchise by getting us to the playoffs. He finally made things exciting again. I don't think Parcells ruined things. He just never got to finish what he started. Remember he was brought in by Huizenga and bolted when he sold the team to Ross.

Now Wanny, on the other hand, was here long enough to do some REAL damage.

They made the right pick at the time. Matt Ryan would've been run out of Miami the way he's collapsed every year.

Stickboy would have been killed behind our Offensive Lines if he was the pick. One pick couldn't have fixed this dysfunctional organization back then just as it cannot now. It's a process and we have proven that we cannot comprehend it.

Wow, Rodgers is the best player in the game? That's a stretch

Even if Long became a hall of fame player, it was still a mistake to take him over Ryan. Qb is the most important position in all of sports and if you need one you have to take that chance when you are in position to take one as highly thought of as Ryan was. The only defense of Parcells and the Dolphins organization for passing on Ryan at the time, is that there was no rookie salary slotting, so they would have had to pay a big contract and signing bonus to a guy (Ryan) who played a position (qb) that has a high bust rate and a great deal of uncertainty. Left tackle was more of the safe and cheaper pick rather than taking Ryan and the risk he represented to the team's salary cap.

i'd have been happy to get Brees.. Freakin Jamir Fletcher, wtf... at least at the time jake long seemed like the right pick.. Jamir Fletcher NEVER seemed like the right pick

I also believe Parcells is overrated. He specialized in taking bad teams and making them just barely good enough to get to the playoffs but not really good enough to challenge for anything.

As has often been pointed out, Bellicheat has won without Parcells but not Parcells without Bellicheat.

As normaniii pointed out, Long was probably headed for the HoF barring injuries. But he had them, he broke down, and the pick went Yatil Green because of them.

I definitely am more bummed about missing out on Rodgers than Ryan. But it is guys like Julio Jones and AJ Green that transform QB's from solid to good.IMHO, Matty Ice is solid, but Rodgers is great. Just my $0.02.

Wax On Wax Off is right, Parcells had a long lasting negative impact on this team. But I think Gase is the right guy. So if Tannenbaum, another Parcells guy, is smart, he will facilitate Gase.

Yea...Like we could have had him sit for a few years and fix his throwing motion...since that was the main reason he fell so far.
