Over the past 20 years, according to Rich Eisen just a minute ago on NFLN.

This is a must-win today folks. Starting the season with two losses in a row at home would be highly demoralizing.

This game hinges on whether we can get pressure on Matt Schaub. The Dolphins' morale in this game is going to hinge on whether the game seems different to them from last week's, and that comes down to whether the opposing quarterback can dissect them with the passing game as Brady did.

If Matt Schaub comes out firing and we have no answer, expect a long day.

If we can hurry him and sack him early, set the tone, and boost our morale, expect a win.

The pass defense, especially the pass rush, in the first quarter alone will tell the tale IMO.

63% of teams miss the playoffs in general. I'm sure teams that lose any particular game are statistically less likely to miss the playoffs. It's not like losses help you in some way.

Right, but apparently some losses are worse than others, like if they come in the first two games of the season.

12% of teams surmount that situation and make the playoffs. Those aren't good chances, obviously.

And isn't it like 80+% of teams that start 2-0 make the playoffs? That didn't work for us, and the year we won the division we started 0-2. Don't get me wrong, I'm not undervaluing the importance of the game, and I think these are the kind of games we should win if we want to be a contender, but I still think this isn't a must win. If we lose to Cleveland, this ships going under.

yeah but in 08 we went 0-2 and went to the playoffs. weve done it before!!!! lets do it!

seriously though, this is a weird year. indy? pitt having probs. only diff is buffalo may actually be good enough to do damage to pats and jets. know more in 8 days.

i said before last weeks game that it was a must win. when i said must win i didnt mean that we would be eliminated from contention if we lost, but it would be a lot harder of an obstacle to overtake the pats for the division losing our home opener to them.

now on to this week. i see it as the same thing. yes, we are not eliminated by any stretch of imagination with a loss, but it would put us in a very deep hole. 0-2, 0-1 in division to the pats, 0-2 in afc. not the way you want to start.

todays game is very pivotal. if we win, their is a very good chance we go into the bye week at minimum 2-2, and heck maybe 3-1. obviously we all wanted 4-0, but it is what it is now.

lets do this.

Just hope the defense plays with some backbone today. Then we may have a decent chance of the game ending in our favor.

Have you seen what happens to teams that lose the 3rd and 15th games? I bet they normally don't make the playoffs either.

Bad teams generally lose a particular game. You can't go the other way and say that teams who lose a particular game in general are bad.

We started 2-0 on the road last year and did not make it.

Just play good football.
