I hope isn't cursed. He's wearing Sammie Smith's jersey #.

Let’s take a look at one of the players on our 90-man preseason roster: Kalen Ballage.

Production?

I think his production was ok for a guy that started out as a college linebacker. Sure he doesn't have steady college production numbers, but he's shown glimpses of very good talent and if you feel you can improve on what you've seen than I see no problem taking a shot. It's not like he's a first or second round pick. I think at minimum he could develop into a good third down back. It's rare to find a 6'2 230 pound back with his combination of hands, speed and willingness to pass protect. As a rookie I expect most of his impact to be on special teams, barring injury to Gore or Drake. I have little doubt he can grow to be a replacement for Damien WIlliams and maybe much more.

His collegiate production was sub par and I still fail to see all the hype on the guy.
come on stop it!, this was one of the best rb in college, who was you looking at? this guy is bursting at the seams with talent.

This guy comes from a passing offense in college, go back and look at his tape for the first time, you guys look at yards he don't have, Drake wasn't a yards guy at Alabama but he did damage when given the opportunity.

Production?

He had more college production than Kenyan Drake did.

In today's NFL I'd almost prefer a guy with more tread on the tires. It's been shown year in year out that you can get solid production out of JAGs at the position, and having the ability to catch and run out of the backfield is more in-line with what Gase is looking for than a workhorse 4000 yard college back.

So, there are definitely some reasons to knock on the kid but I don't think production holds up anymore. Just my opinion. Now if you're looking at DE or QB and don't see any college production...well, then my eyebrows are raising.

Let's do this the faster way. Name someone on the team that you actually have a positive view of.

I have plenty and have said as much in other threads. Starting with both tackles, the drafting of Fitzpatrick and Gesiki just to name a few.

Skill set is completely different. And Drake skill set at Alabama was not only apparent, but flashed off the screen.

I hope that is sarcasm.

See, this is the part where YOU are so busy trolling those you disagree with, you fail to see the optimism that other posters are allowed to have as fans.

Feel free to start your own thread in which you offer the service of dragging other posters down to your version of reality.

Skill set is not completely different. Both "do-it-all backs", unless you want to elaborate? Lines up in the slot, clean hands, experience returning kicks, adequate burst (talking about both guys here)...

You say it flashed off the screen for Drake yet they were both pegged as mid-late round selections, both pegged as third-down backs (not rb1s), and both we're backs you were supposed to "have a plan for" according their draft profiles.

So, to me it sounds like you just are using hindsight to somehow differentiate Drake from Ballage when they are actually incredibly comparable pre-draft situations. Only for some reason lack of production gets you down on Ballage, but for Drake it was "completely different"....ok.
