Should he be in the Dolphins Ring of Honor?

I would’ve voted “Stats are Ring of Honor worthy, but Nope.” but that wasn’t an option.

Wake was certainly an individually great player and sack specialist that stuck out on some bad teams.

He gets an honorable mention with his stats but not someone I put in ring of honor. Same boat like Xavien Howard or Ricky Williams.

I don't think he was immediate RoH worthy, but he definitely should be honored at some point. He was a bright spot in a dark time for this franchise.

At first I wanted to say no. I think the era of mediocrity the team went through (and that is being kind) while he was on the roster is keeping me from saying yes.

I looked his stats up to try an get an unbiased opinion and completely forgot he had played 10 years for us and had that much production. A great team guy and fan favorite for sure but for some reason I recalled him as being more a flashpan player production wise.

Probably all the drinking when watching losing season after losing season...

My biased gut still tells me no but the numbers hold up to anyone else. Now I would not have an issue with him being selected, it looks like he earned it.

Regrettably, I have to agree. The ring of honor has to be a Hall of Fame type of player and I loved Wake.

I think the one play the tells you what kind of player Wake was is when he tore his achilles and still kept chasing after Brady trying to make a play in a game Miami had no chance of coming back to win.

Compare that to someone like Cam Newton who couldn't even be bothered to fall on a fumble in the most important game of his or his teammates lives.

I voted no, but probably from a different perspective than most. I think there are several who don't belong, and a couple that do that aren't there.

The more you have, the less meaningful, IMO.
This is a difficult one for me. On one hand he's the only Dolphin worthy of the honor in like the last 15 years (since Zach and JT). On the other hand his numbers and career is comparable to Elvis Dumervil who probably would not be considered Ring of Honor worthy.

I prefer to err on the side of inclusion re the Dolphins Ring of Honor. Cam Wake was undrafted and came to the Dolphins via Canada. He excelled at his position for many many years on some pretty ordinary Dolphin teams but was good enough to make 5 Pro Bowls. He deserves to be included.
