okay its 930 am, its not too early for beer and hotdogs (here at least) and its not too early to start getting pumped about 2009. GREAT season dolphins, it felt great not to get ridiculed all season long for the first time in awhile. and in response to how i felt yesterday, wayne H said it best "It hasn't been a good day, but it has been a great year,"
we have ALOT to look forward too next year. i pointed it out in a post earlier this season and pointed it out to my roomie against yesterday when they were showing the lineups. look at how young are team is at all starting positions, pennington is the only starter on O with more than 5 years experience. our defense is the same way with i believe only ferg, porter, holliday and allen having more than 5 years in em. so must of our starters and reserves have yet to even come close to their primes. and these youg guys went 11-5 that alone has to get you excited for the new few years to come.
as far as everyone bashing our schedule for next year saying how tough its gonna be. NOBODY knows how tough the schedules gonna be til next year rolls around. look what happened this year. SD and Den were both supposed to be all world and in the playoffs, they finished 8-8, seatle was supposed to be good, then they lose hasselbeck, arizona..well they handed us our ***** but they finished only 9-7. so what next year we have a tough schedule if we look at it right now. Free agency takes players from all teams, injuries take players from all teams, so we dont know EXACTLY WHAT we are facing yet. i dont see it happening but next year the souths could turn into this years wests. so lets take the games as they come and dont worry about hte nonsense of after 2008 how tough those teams were last season.
injuries....man did we stay healthy this year for the first time in awhile. we had 3 that hurt us bad with the guards and cammy getting injured. but another season of the offseason conditioning program and these guys should all be in great shape.
also look at all the improvements and what we showed this year. penny, yermiah, and ronnie all showed they could last an entire season. the emergance of cammy and bess as our possesion and sparkplug recievers. ted ginn showing he can be a deep threat when penny gets the time, not too mention he did start to grow a set about halfway threw the season. jake long proving his worth as a the number 1 pick. satalle actually looking pretty good til smiley went down. the emergence of two rookie DEs to potentially look up our DL for a long time, what a great season by j peazy getting to the QB even though he faded towards end. goodman proving to be a starting caliber CB, and bell just making big plays and being in on every tackle.
MANNNNNNNNNNN YOU HAVEEEE to get pumped about next season. A healthy OL which will help are running game be legit again and give penny time to pick apart the D's. ronnie ricky and cobbs, shredding the d's, fasano catching everything in the middle, martin proving he can be a deep threat out of the TE position when matched on a LB, ginn, bess, cammy, and london..doesnt sound scary on paper, but give em a full offseason with penny. from cammys crosses, bess' screens, ginns deep ball, and londons intensity. mannnnn yeah. and on the offense note, look for david lee to start taking over a lot more for henning to open it up a bit with all our weapons.
on D, i say we need some improvements, but on DL alone with young DE's we are looking good, our DBs proved they were so valuable this season that there coach is getting interviewed for jobs. and you know we are gonna be able to tweak it some with the draft. dont look for us to bring in the big names, parcells and ireland know what they are doing in the draft and they will get us the younger NT (i think starks is better fit as a DT in 4-3 or DE in 3-4) and hopefully solidify the linebacking corps, even though i think other than being exposed up the middle the ILBs were out of position alot. ST's straightened out by end of season and i believe we have our kicker for the next 10 years in carpenter.
SO GUYS, lets get pumped, thank you for a great season dolphins and we have a lot to look forward to next year!!!!!
GO FINS!!!!!!!!!:beer1::beer1::beer1:
