Without getting into pre and post June 1 cuts, as well as dead money, which some understand and many do not here' a look at what we save over 2 years by moving some players now.

Wallace- $12.1M
Ellerbe- $9.85M
Hartline- $7.35M
Finnegen- $6.5M

Starks- $6M
Mtchell- $4.5M
Misi- 4.4M
Wheeler- $4.4M

Gibson- $4.25M
Fields- $3.9M
Smith- $3
Garner- $1.8M

That's a WHOPPING $66M and aside from Wallace, no other one of these 12 really mattered with Wallace being a highly overpaid pain in the ass. If these players are moved this year, the cap savings can be used this year i9n new player contracts without regard to dead money or when they are moved.

IMO, I don't see this team, this year, spending half this much but, it is there if we want to.

Gotta save $ for Tannehill too.

And spending big with an entire coaching staff AND front office staff most likely on it's way out is a terrible idea.

If this team doesn't do anything stupid, even if they have a terrible season, they should have there pick of the litter as far as coaching and GM candidates go.

Can't believe I did not follow up as planned with the salary saving for year #2 in addition to the cut costs.

Wallace- $11.5M

Ellerbe- $6.5M

Hartline- $6M

Mitchell- $3M

Misi- $4.3M

Wheeler- $5M

Fields- $3.6M

That's an additional $40M in cap savings for 2016, in addition to the $66M already accounted for.

Not just him. Dolphins have to figure out if they want to invest long term into Mike Pouncey. Do they pick up the one year option or sign him long term and save money on the cap? I have to say I'm concerned with the way he's played the last two years.

Cut misi???

If the Dolphins find a MLB it's a probability. Misi doesn't play special teams and Trusnik does. If Jordan moved to SLB then you basically have Jordan and McCain at SLB if you get rid of Misi so you're somewhat protected there.

misi can play against the run and cover from SLB... he is a main guy i think we need to be back at his position, to help this core get strong again. definitely not an ILB though.

if we cut him it leaves Jordan who i think, as of now, is an undisciplined OLB who takes poor angles, who over pursues, etc... he i guess should be fine rushing off the edge though, but I dont think will become an every down SLB at all.

McCain could become solid, but hasnt shown or proven anything yet.

i want Misi, I dont want maybes!!!

Cutting Misi would be a bad move right now. Need that MLB here and making a difference before just cutting a guy who can play. Maybe not great at MLB but elsewhere he is ok.

They use Jordan now in coverage more than rushing the quarterback. He's shown nothing as far as pass rush moves. If you find a MLB in the draft and you keep Misi then you basically have 3 SLBs unless they keep Jordan at DE. The real issue here is what the heck do we do with Jordan?

agreed with what to do with Jordan... if he will ever learn and develop (thats why i said i guess he'll be good rushing off the edge too... lol)

But we definitely need Misi, he is a starter and hopefully can go to his main position... he is a solid LB to have. Cant get rid of a guy like him because Jordan we dont know what to do with his "athletic ability", and a guy McCain who we really dont know what he consistently offers at all

Issue with Misi and McCain is that neither stayed healthy last year. $4.3 million for a part time player is a bit much. We also need a backup for Jenkins unless Tripp shows something. Freakin linebacking corp is a mess, O-line's a mess, DBs are a mess...I wish I could meet Jeff Ireland so I could punch him in the face...lol.

^^^Jordan needs to be played in space for sure.

But the good news is that a lot of these guys are seriously NO BRAINER cuts. Hickey and Philbin are playing for their jobs this season I believe.

Cutting: Ellerbe, Wheeler, Finnegan, Starks is a great start and all definitely need to be axed

After those 4 I think we should get rid of Hartline and Gibson personally (keep Wallace) and draft wrs or maybe sign a guy to a modest deal. Maybe Hartline would restructure??? I'd get rid of Garner, for the price we can find a better backup than a perpetually injured one. Shelley Smith I would like to keep as depth, would be better at a smaller deal but doubt he would take team friendly deal. I think Fields likes it here, I could see him restructuring. I wouldn't cut Mitchell with all the uncertainty at DT, same with Misi and the LBs

also SB, how much does Trusnik make??? how much would cutting him help

if you cut Misi, Wheeler, and Ellerbee you have Jenkins at LB and nobody else.

Can't count on Dion Jordan at LB since he is a druggie and one more failed test away from a year suspension (ala Josh Gordon). No way they cut all 3. Cut 2...fine. Cut all 3 and the entire draft and FA will be dedicated to filling linebacker holes and depth behind that

yeah Koa only played in 11 games i believe this year... but he is usually durable for us.

and i agree we are in a big mess in many positions. Just cant cut guys we definitely need to help strengthen these positions.

Travis said some things I agree with too... keep Misi and keep Mitchell... and as he said there are many no brainer cuts that will save us a lot of money already!!! Wheeler and Ellerbe I wanted off the team this year anyways as it is, Hartline has the worst contract of all, Gibson, and Finnegan as well just to name the ones I definitely see bye bye!!!

If Miami cuts Wallace next year the cap takes much less of a hit, this year Miami would save about 6M by cutting Wallace after the dead money where as next year they'd save 9M. . In the case of a guy like Wheeler you might as well forget about it there is zero savings due to dead money, 4M salary 4M in dead money. Ellerbe gives you 5M in savings if you cut him.

Guy like Hartline gives you about 3M in savings by cutting him. You will never get to 60M in savings due to dead money, I'd say realistically Miami could save about 30M this year by cutting some folk.
