A Deeper Dive at Corner

That waiver wire at Cut Down is going to be active for sure. Unless Asante Samuels injury heals enough to the point, Miami becomes comfortable and signs him late?
It been suggested that it is career threatening, which kind of jives with the fact that the Chargers haven't brought him back, despite a good amount of cap space.

I've mentioned this a few times over the course of the off-season, how it was possible Miami was potentially, going into the 2025 season; with the intent of playing all their young DB's they've acquired over the past few seasons.

I never figured they'd actually do it, especially with all the 1st round CB talk, before the draft.

And even more compelling is the recent talk of Dante Trader potentially being an early contributor.

I guess we have to face the fact Miami has a serious youth movement in the secondary. And intends to sink or swim with it.
Who knows, it could work too. It's a bit of a numbers game where you figure a few will step up and come through.

At the very least, you find out during the season whether it's a need going into next offseason.

He’s a talented kid, just had some set backs.

Getting hurt in TC as a rookie can derail you quick. The changing defenses and getting hurt again didn’t help.

I’m praying for a smooth year from him.
If I remember correctly, I believe Smith is someone Weaver is high on. Weaver made mention of Smith a few times last camp.

It would definitely explain the draft and comfort with moving Ramsey.
Whenever I did a simulated mock draft, it was really difficult to find corner help after the 2nd round. I know it was said to be a good year for corners, but there were a lot of flawed prospects that I think will be hit or miss.

But to your point, Weaver may be more comfortable with this group then we are. In a way, I'd rather see what the young secondary players can do, then to block them with a veteran. But I do expect Grier to add a veteran.
