................ I'm bringing this up because it's crossed my mind a few times over the past couple of years................but do you think there's a slight possibility that the city of Miami plays a part of the problem with this franchise? Miami is by no means a blue-collar city. Do you think that the kind of lifestyle found in south Florida could be found to be negatively impactual on the players?

It is something to think about, but not for long. the Dolphins are still one othe most popular teams in football. Plus the few years we have had so little talent.

With all the immigration into the city I've questioned whether we can ever achieve the kind of stadium atmosphere that teams have when their fans are 3rd and 4th generation people whose grandfathers and great-grandfathers had season tickets. I think it's tough to have as much passion for a team when you grew up in another country and didn't know a thing about the Miami Dolphins as a kid. Of course that's not everybody, but I think it's true on average.

I think the city was the same in 1972 & 1973 when we won the Superbowl.

But there sure wasn't as much immigration.

You want Blue Collar, how bout Detroit?
Based on the above comments they should have basket fulls of championships.
No South Beach there, NEXT!

Here's a clue about winning.
It has to do with drafting good players, good schemes, good coaching and consistent efficiency of play.

Winning has nothing to do with the city a team plays in, what type of night clubs there are in a city, how aggressive the team logo looks, team colors, the length of the chearleader skirts, whether the home stadium sells brauts or dogs, etc. etc.

Jesus some of you come up with complete doggie doo.

Why should the lifestyle of the fans have any effect on the players performances? Or better yet, why would it?

But you gotta admit, we have NOTHING like "The Cheeseheads" (Green Bay) in terms of stadium atmosphere. Our fans are busy reading the newspaper.

I can hear Enigmatics now.

"That's it!"

It's not the night life of Miami it's all that Spanish being thrown around that has kept us out of Super Bowls!

It's not the language, it's that a blue collar-type stadium atmosphere is generated by fans who have a passion for the team that was developed during their childhood and has grown over the years. We have a stadium with a lot more people in it who didn't know a thing about their team as kids than every other team in the NFL. Even the Mexicans know about the Chargers. A lot of people in Cuba don't own TVs, and the ones who do sure aren't getting Dolphins games on them.

Won't argue there but Enigmatics was bringing up the lifestyle of south FL. as a direct theory for why the team "hasn't been successful".

That's not a reference on stadium atmosphere.

NY, Chicago, San Francisco, Denver, New England (Boston) to name a few are all towns that have fantastic night life comparable if not equal or better than S. FL., yet somehow their teams have had success.

The original post was rediculous however not surprising.

The problem is that too many of our fans view Dolphins games as "a fun outing" rather than a serious ritual based on their passion for the team. Consequently we get a lot of fan noise at times when fans are "supposed to" cheer rather than throughout the game like you see for other teams. I think that has an effect on the team.
